They may not be super effective against anything, but they have variety, versatility, and a type immunity, so that helps. Plus having only one weakness is now unique to them.

i've been playing on and off all day to catch a Rockruff, and i finally did!!! i named him Parhelion bc im a nerd and playing sun :P
i also spent a good while in the first trial area to catch an alolan diglett...i used to hate it but i'm starting to unironically love alolan dugtrio

i'm loving the whole atmosphere of the game so far too, pokemon has always tried to have a unique feel to each region since RSE and they've succeeded INCREDIBLY well this time. still waiting to see where the story goes though

I just spent over 20 minutes trying to catch a pokemon that successfully called for help 17 fucking times and busted out of 3 great balls before I took her down. The closest I have come to experiencing rage at this game. But I respect her. And I named her Determinatia x3

 

What pokemon was it?

 

OH YEAH, the one mechanic im not actually liking too much so far. i think the concept is cool and makes sense with pokemon, but do they really have to do it as often as they do?

I appreciate the mechanic since it allows rarely spawning mons to show up when fighting a common one. It's the only way I managed to get Sableye, tbh. Then again, actually trying to CATCH Sableye was ridiculous because I'm massively overleveled and the guy's catch rate is ridiculously low considering how early it shows up in s/m (also no false swipe to save the day).

 

GOOD NEWS EVERYBODY

Mystery Gift is currently handing out Munchlaxes that know Hold Back, which does the same thing as False Swipe.

(they also know Metronome and have a Snorlium-Z but HOLD BACK, y'all)

The professor does just up and give you the False Swipe TM fairly early on, but your main problem at that stage is just... finding a good sturdy pokemon you can wave it at. Mystery Munchlax will save your sanity.

 

Is anyone else having a hell of a time deciding on an actual team? Ive been switching up my team before every trial plus some, i all the alola pokemon holy shit

 

The problem is that both those moves are normal type, and Sableye is part ghost so they don't work. They really should change them to ??? type, tbh.
