Hey, what's your favorite animal(s)? What made you choose them? Sharing is caring!

My favorite are goldfish because they're basically giant underwater butterflies!

edit: Oh, and ferrets! Ferrets are also delightful. They're so long. So excited. They're like someone crossed a kitten with a slinky.

Dogs dogs dogs doggos! i love pibbles an huskies miostest! and foxes and wolves and most of the canine family actually.

Dogs. Yes. Every single dog. So much so that every time I see one I have to exclaim 'DOG!' either subvocally or loudly depending on who I'm with.

Recent Good Dog Sightings: A dog in a stroller. Three very small dogs wearing coats. One that looked like an honest to god wolf. A very patient big eyed collie sat outside a shop. Two very fluffy snuffly puppers doing circuits under the seats on my morning train.

In conclusion: dogs.

 

Cats. My families have always had cats and I just love them, their personalities, the purring, the kneading, the ears, the investigating whiskers, the ineffable cat smile.

Some other runners-up: chicadees, pillbugs, and bumblebees.

 

Water bears! I love their little doot doot faces and admire their survivability

 

Thylacines!

I'm really angry that they are probably extinct, because they had a terrible reputation for killing livestock and were hunted for that, but there are many very credible primary source accounts to the effect that, while they were shy and hard to catch, if you did catch one and treated him or her with any amount of kindness, it would be responsive and quickly become affectionate and trustworthy. Plus they are super cute and there are a few videos from the 1930s of them. The terrible zoo environments will make you mad, but in the ones where the animals are trying to play with their keepers, they are SO ADORABLE.

DUDE OH MY GOD THYLACINES ARE ONE OF THE BEST CREATURES. Their sad story is what got me on my conservation kick back in grade school.
Also, have you listened to this song? It's a horribly beautiful sad song about Endlings, and the first verse is about the last Thylacine.
