okay but can we talk about just how terrible a sequel the sequel was. i'm fond of a couple of songs from it and it's not a terribly bad musical but as a sequel? why

 

@missoyashirou it makes slightly more sense in the book - she doesn't think the Phantom is her father's ghost, she just believes the Phantom was sent by her father (bc her father always said that he would send her the Angel of Music when he died). also they spend hella more time together in the book so it makes more sense that she'd actually have some feelings for the poor guy.

also i listened to the sequel as an audiobook way before the musical came out and i actually enjoyed it XD i loved the setting most of all, it fit really nicely with the continuity of the original book. i'm a sucker for happy endings though, so ... yeah

in the book he actually has, like, legit apartments built in the walls and cellars of the opera house. he lives in decent amounts of luxury :P but, yes, he is an asshole. a very lonely and maligned person with some serious trauma, but still an asshole.,

 

It is weird when you want a thing for...four years and you get the thing and...all of the chemicals are finally right.

My husband's co-worker/basically his boss. =7= she said she was worried about how much stuff he carried in his bag and was in the market for somethign sturdier for him. She immediately found that and said "HERE YOU GO, DUDE, IT'S PERFECT." (if you can't tell, I love his boss already and Nate's essentially been adopted) bless her for bringing this into my life. But, yes, I'm kind of astounded Luka started a fashion trend.

I love when people get super offended over tiny little shit like a coupon not working or the price of something raising by 20 cents. Because seriously. What were you going to do with all that fucking money, Linda? 20 whole cents. Now you can't roll around in a small pile of pennies. How will you go on living?

 

@Sethrial MacCoill That reminds me of the customer this past month who was mad that we rounded the price from (say) $2.94 to $2.95 and wouldn't take his four pennies. a) It's one cent, but more importantly, b) Canada phased the penny out in 2013.

 

it stresses me out soo much, because my mom's the type to get stressed about small inconveniences and i just want everyone to be happy ;-;
like the best example i can think of is at disney world (of all places) my mom is super exasperated by them taking two minutes to help a person in a scooter onto the bus. like. oh no, mom, we lost two minutes of time. now we can't spend two extra minutes sitting in the hotel room. the world is over.
