The whole IDW thing is that both sides started out with reasonable arguments and then things escalated way past any point of being okay and then it kept escalating.
Also, downsides of writing long emotional posts about Soundwave in the TGWP thread: I'm writing this Wheeljack/Windblade/Starscream, and lots of my attention is on typing Wheeljack instead of Windblade because what do you mean you're supposed to read more of a word than just the first letter. But now I'm trying to type Soundwave instead of Starscream, goddammit But still, a Wheeljack/Windblade/Soundwave triad would be... a strange and interesting beast. I really need to see about crackshipping Soundwave more, because it sounds like a rewarding hobby.

But that doesn't make the autobots pure evil either, and claiming they are in the IDW verse is honestly just the same level of nuance as claiming the decepticons are pure evil. ...wait, do you think they missed that, while the Autobots was the name of the Senate's security force headed by Optimus, he was also leading a secret resistance group that he also called the Autobots, taking the Auto- from autonomy and not automaton? Like. That's the thing. OP was never on the side of the corrupt senate. Even if he started out somewhat naive, after what the senate did to Shockwave, he'd never side with them. He just wanted to try them instead of assassinate them. He didn't LIKE leading their personal security force.

Ahahahaha, okay, this has gotten kind of hilarious to watch. It's kind of like watching superhero comics fans getting angry trying to splain away continuity errors because SHUT UP THIS TOTALLY MAKES SENSE. That said, if you're talking OP and Megatron in IDW G1 specifically I have a lot more to say, but 'autobot' and 'decepticon' are actually really wide-casting identifiers with a lot of overlap despite what people in-universe might want to think.
I mean, sure, some Autobots are Pipes, and have done no wrong, ever, but some Autobots are also Prowl, and that's terrible. EDIT: And some Decepticons are Soundwave and some are Overlord. The beeeeeautiful spectrum of life!
