Dataslate: thin tablet, limited processing power, often used for entertainment, media storage, and-or message composition. [She still isn't quite paying attention to the conversation, but her function as Walking Dictionary is almost automatic.]

 

Oh, oh yes! This is one of those things that the mortals have now. Or at least remarkably similar to it.

And it would be, yes. Mine is simply a mirror after all. The mortal things are more electronic in nature, I believe? Someone in Thunders might know more about it. I know some of the offices are bigger on that sort of tech. Years in particular, though they mostly use mirrors like Bonds does for this sort of thing.

-oh right the other person she was talking too...she looks down at her other mirror and types off an explanation. tripped and now she's having a chat in person. one of her faces and two of her hands deal with this casually while she continues chatting with the transformers-

 

I am sure the mirror set up is quite storage effective. And if one values ornamentation it is sure to look more pleasant than the "stacks of dataslates on the desk" set up.
May I ask what your work consists of? Administrative in nature?

 

You don't even know the half of how important ornamentation is up here. I live in eternal fear that my jackets will go out of season...

Anyway, I'm being a bit rude aren't I? Duchess Bonds Xiaohe. I work as a social worker for parolees on leave by the CIS. The Celestial Investigation Service. My job is one of the many handled by Office Bonds. We handle all things social and relationship oriented and on that note...My friend here -she points with another hand at the other mirror she is talking away on- has reminded me that there are people in our Office that work with things more like your dataslates. They're in a part of the Helix that I never go to though. The ones that work with Thunders on electrical matters. They're the ones that manage our aethernet among other things.

What about you? I'd judge you for a Gate God but you're not from the Seat.

Net management is not my specialty, more practically inclined than that, but I know a few mechs in comms who'd probably know more about any differences or similarities.

 

I'm afraid I don't know much about it, either. Not my sort of thing you know? Frankly, I couldn't tell you one bit about how the aethernet actually works. Just that it does and what I use it for.

And you're an ambassador? Wonderful! I know a few myself, they work in Bonds as well after all. They're a bit closer to my department than the ones running the technical side of our affairs.

Also...You are not a deity? But you have them? That's a bit...Odd to me.

 

I-... er I currently work as one yes. I don't have any education in the field, but as matters stand I was... deemed most suitable to the task.
And things are as they are. We are a mechanoid species with very long lifespans. Some clerics claim this is because we have a fragment of divinity within our sparks. Some claim it is because in a divine battle the embodiment of Death was killed by our creator. Some say both is true. I personally... Don't give a frag and don't believe what self-important storyweavers tell the people to control and manipulate them.

 

So there is uncertainty about it? That's even odder! The whole process of who gets to be a god and how is painfully clear and wrought out here. It's a bit of a confusing mess but the basics of it are that we're the ascended parts of mortal souls. Ascended because conduct and merit gain. If one has enough merit when they go in for karma tallying in Diyu their Hun is ascended into a Deity of Intellect. Though there are the devils. They're a bit odder but a similar matter but with the Po half of the soul.

Then there's what kind of deity you are. Which is all very complicated and there's a seemingly endless number of calculations that go into that decision...Deaths deals with that, thankfully.

I believe we would certainly count as "mortal" or equivalent in your system except for the whole "generally tend to not die very easily" part. And we certainly do not have much authority, considering what a pain in the aft the Galactic Council is to deal with.

Ah...There's quite the system of checks and balances that keeps you all in check then. A bit like how our Offices function. You have to go through the process with an individual Office and then deal with the Imperial Court. Which takes forever. I'm happy that I personally don't have to get messages to and from the Jade Emperor. I hear it's hellish.

Even more so than Hell.
