Wait, do you get a shiny charm for completing the alola Dex??

 

Just popping my head in because I'm trying to avoid spoilers since I just grabbed Moon, but is anyone else's clock apparently backward? It's night when it's day/day when it's night and I checked my 3DS settings to make sure that wasn't it. Just want to know if this a Thing.

 

I think that is an intended feature!

 

@Lazarae moon's clock is 12 hours ahead of sun's.

So yeah it's a feature. If you don't care much to get penalized in festival plaza you can switch the time on your DS and fix it.

 

It definitely is! Sun's clock is normal; Moon's is opposite. I thought it might be messed up when I started up my copy too.

shiny charm is an item that waaaay increases your odds of getting a shiny through battling breeding etc etc

yep! just the alola dex. you don't need to finish the national one, which... is impossible rn anyway

Chained 116 and got myshiny rockruff. Now the question is, do I want to do that all over again for the crabrawler...

...which means i have over 120 littens if anyone wants one. i'm probably gonna throw all of them on wonder trade in the next few days to get them out of my boxes lol

im still dragging myself through the main story and trying to catch all different mons so depending on what you want for it it might take a bit

Team up to the end of island 2: Dartrix, Pikachu, Gumshoos, Crabrawler, Ribombee; with Lilipup in the back picking up items

I think I saw people mentioning the grass trial was difficult for them? My Ribombee owned it. Dartrix had huge troubles and I sacrificed it and the damn totem was again mostly on full HP. After a pollen puff from Ribombee it was on 0.
The fire trial was brutal though.

My Pikachu with Special Attack Thundershock ate the water trial for breakfast.

Team from now on: Ribombee, Mareanie, Fomantis, Sandygast; later on Minior once I get one, and Lilipup in the back picking up items until I get something icelike.

 

I think it's so interesting (and a sign of good game design!) that people struggle with different trials to such a degree. On the second Island, I only lost to Mallow. The fire was a breeze for me because Mudbray had bulldoze, which was 4x effective against salandit and salazzle AND had spread coverage. For me, it was that Trumbeak ally that kept getting me, as it kept mauling my grass and bug types.

 

Apparently the answer was yes. Chained 100 crabrawler exactly for the shiny.

 

I just spent 20 minutes trying to catch mimikyuu and I got distracted and wound up catching like 5 Klefki

 

a shiny charm isn't needed for chaining right? it just makes it easier?

Correct! So far I haven't even needed it.

 

i'm trying to decide if there are any shinies i care enough about to farm... the one thing i love is of course salazzle but with my luck the shiny would come up on a male.
