I don't actually know much about tarot, though I love astrology for the pattern-finding so it sounds like I could probably learn. I was toying with ideas for a Redwall tarot as that's my special interest and maybe it'd help me remember what's what, but again, I don't know much about it. Matthias tripping over his sandals would definitely be the Fool - first character introduced, beginning a journey, and all that.

 

@paintcat it has some genderweird, I don't want to sound like it's 100% Genderfuck all the time, but it's got things like. some ambiguous genitalia, the Emperor is pretty femmey, I should actually drag it out so I can give better examples instead of thinking from memory. but in general, there's less solid Feminine/Masculine lines and not as much feminine=nurturing interpretations, which is the main thing. so not a lot of overbearing 'Women are Mothers pregnancy babies blah blah' which is really nice

and there's an extra card that's literally interpreted as '??? Gender' in the little guidebook, that's its main meaning

 

I somewhat follow the gifted/stolen tradition even though Chaote and I know I can flip it off because it means nothing to me, it's just habit because I learned it young. My Homestuck deck, however, I bought for myself as a stim toy because shuffling is soothing, and sometimes I do basic readings to break up the shuffling and it's not bad or uncooperative. Kind of silly with a sense of gallows humor. I probably could use it for real but it feels Weird because I bought it myself.

 

And now to again think about how I have told the gods about Homestuck. So I could speak to them.

 

I've had one tarot reading and two palm readings in my life, and the tarot and one of the palm readers were really good, but I was able to tell it was cold reading. Still fun, though. I'd really like to see if someone can pick up something really inexplicable about me from a reading.

Also, gotpsi.com confirms my suspicion that I'm fucking hopeless at this.

 

A certain sense of snarkiness seems to be near-universal with the HS tarot. I suppose it's the subject matter.

 

Maybe that's part of why they took to it as well as I did. It's prime subject matter for being a little fucking shit.

 

I... would strongly advise against attaching too much importance to your inability to psychically influence some website's RNG.

 

I was kidding, more or less. I'm pretty sure if I had any psychic abilities I'd have noticed by now, and I certainly don't think I can influence a website. I've had exactly one semi-premonition and that could have just been overreacting tactile nerves. Though if it was it was weird that it happened right then and never ever again. (I woke up to feel something hard rattling around my mouth one morning when I was five, it vanished and I cried because I thought I'd somehow swallowed an earring or something, and later that day my tooth which had been loose for a while fell out and I swallowed it.) Not going to presume to say that nobody else can do it, but I'm pretty sure I can't.

 

update on the spirit lady front: she is fond of the cakes and cupcakes i bake, and demands a share. ok. i dont know if it's something about them being cut, or at least the ingredients being cut/chopped or what, but she likes them.

Spirits and gods and such love baked goods so much. Not all of them but christ a lot love baked stuff. Especially if you make them? Least that has been my experience and that of some other gaelpol types i know.

ah some weeks back i noticced i had a slightly recalcitrant helpful guardian spirit, and basically the only thing i knew about her that she was a lady, and had a bit of a dry attitude. think queen of swords, but in a helpful way, acknowledging that something is shitty/a problem, but with the background of "and now figure out how to deal with it"
i tried getting some more info about her with tarot card readings, and basically the only thing i did find out is that she eschews most foods with a "fuck no", but most of the other offering questions just turned up something something action, but nothing else.
but she did demand some of my coffee cream cake, and of the chocolate nut cupcakes i made.
(and, curiously, was interested in my advent calendar chocolate)

joke's on me though, i need to figure out how to dispose of the cupcake in a way that doesnt kill my plants like the coffee cream cake did to my heather.

 

think there is too much unsafe stuff in there that you can put it on the outside of the windowsill for birdies?

 

we're explicitely forbidden from feeding the birds due to bird dropping & dirt complaints in this building
