I played a game yesterday on the Ilios: Well map and a Genji stopped playing for several minutes to bitch at me on team chat for not damage boosting him through his ult when he dashed through to the back of a clusterfuck deathhall of Reaper/Roadhog/D.va on the pathway from enemy spawn.



He killed no one on his own so I guess it's fair to ask for help when you need it.

 

To be fair, an Ulting Mccree is a soon to be dead Mccree in my experience. Could be they were being overly cautious. Which is still a sign a being hypocritical douche who picked a bad character for their playstyle.

I mean, I lost a round to an attack Torbjorn. As it turns out,the character you're best at is gonna be the one that helps out the team best.

 

OH and I finally got Mercy's Huge Rez acheivement, because I'd died well before my team, on the final point of Kings Row, and got my ult right as I respawned. Which, conveniently, happened right as my last team member died on the point!

I did nothing of value and yet,t he accolades rolled in. :P

I mean legitimately "didn't get their ult at all" not just "didn't use their ult". They did use their ult once. On an empty point. With no one to kill.

(They kept insisting on adhering to the "meta" and the problem with the "meta" is that all it takes is one really good wildcard to fuck the entire match to hell.)

 

I think I got Huge Rez in one of the mystery hero brawls, because everyone dumbfuck-died in front of me because they were out of their comfort zone I guess.

 

funny thing: people in comp seem to be nicer than people in quick play in my experience

 

Ended up a part of a group comprised entirely of flankers. Like, spiritually flankers. We had a decent mix of heroes, it's just we were all running harassment and nobody bothered pushing the damn cart. Like, at one point I had the entire team stuck near their spawn trying to kill me, and when I look up, there's no one on the cart. It's gone five feet and nobody gave a shit.

I guess we were all doing harrasment pretty good, tho, cause I got to do a sit emote on the cart for about twenty seconds before anybody from the enemy team showed up.

 

I wonder how they're calibrating the relative skill levels with the ranking. We ranked first season but didn't bother with the second, so I have no idea what tier we would have fallen in then, but I got 2004 and a gold rank with a grand total of 4/10 wins. (Moony scored lower than me, and we think that it might be because while we both played support the majority of the time, he played Torb the rest while I was playing assault characters. I think the damage output is pretty different, and that might have dropped him the ~80 or so points.)

I think that the relative skill of the people we played against/with might have affected that? Every time an already ranked player was on ours or the opposite team, they were gold or platinum.

 

in today's solo queuing adventures, our tracer blamed me for losing despite me having healed 40% team damage, killed an ulting genji twice, and having an 11 player killstreak by the time he finally got me
like I'm so sorry to break this to you tracer, but i was pulling MORE than my weight there, and dying while still having my ult doesn't actually change that :| there isn't much i can do if I'm the only healer and you guys aren't killing enough enemies for us to push the payload

the genji was cool tho he called me bae in chat and friended me right afterwards. good times

 

(why is it people will vote for you when you've done like 20% healing but not when you're in the 35-40s and above....)

Not sure if it helps but: since the update applying the single hero rule to Quick Play and the new season of comp, I've found the QP scene much more toxic and nasty than the comp scene.

Every round I healed was full of people who were sweet and willing to give healers due credit, with a special exception for Singularly Awful McCree.

 

my comp fear is mostly self-imposed, actually! Like I would hate for people to shit on me in chat, but the main fear here is letting people down, and I am magically capable of that even when everyone is being super nice and generally cool to be around
gonna try to shake the mindset and get on it because i DO think I've gotten pretty decent at Mercy by now and I'd love to test that theory :P

 

...I still like my theory that McCree used to dress like a normal guy, and then got in a bet with Tracer and, when he lost, had to wear the cowboy getup for a mission. Then a whole lot of pictures got posted online, he decided he liked it, and decided to stick with it because he thought it was funny.

 

Goddamn, Mercy and Ana are so fucking stronk. They can just nursemaid a tank through half a goddamned team, fuck. It's awful, it's so goddamned awful.

Good Anas are hard to find, but when you get one you better guard that Nana with your life. She works hard and deserves nice things. Rein's my go to bodyguard-the-healer tank, but fuck I'll even quit being an obnoxious flanking fucknugget as Winston for a good Ana.

Ana is fucking annoying as balls if she's a good one. Part of the fun of mystery match for me is when I roll Ana because sometimes I just am so beastly that the other team is fucked. So it turns into this game of trying to kill grandma sometimes. Other times my villainy is let to stand and we become unstoppable.

Please be nice to me. I am a good granny who will keep you alive. The enemy team is not getting through our last point because I can heal that Roadhog through hell itself and then nanoboost him into death incarnate.

On that note my favorite tanks as Ana are Roadhogs because they can't zoom away from me. Zaryas are good too. The other three tend to leave me in the dust and then I am a sad grandma. No amount of scope will let me heal you through that wall D.Va. I cannot run fast enough to save you. Please come back.

Mercy though I really like because so long as I am close enough and in their line of sight I can just kind of fly on over. So I don't have to cry whenever Reinhardt charges away off to war.

 

Gods though the most maddening thing in mystery match is when the other side has an Ana that is beastly enough to keep their team annoying as fuck. And I just kind of sit there going please god we need to stop grandma she is too powerful she is making everyone too powerful. GOD FUCKING DAMMIT GRANDMA DIE.

 

note to self: playing competitive matches while already feeling like shit is a Bad Idea(tm)

 

YOLOhardt is the literal worst. I feel like Reins who lose their shield immediately decide they need to go down in a blaze of glory, so they shoot halfway across the map and get immediately focused down. If you'd just stayed on the point, I'd have healed you through, earned some ult charge, maybe you coulda body blocked some damage for me, flame strike-d through half their team, etc. I reserve charges for escapes and close range kills on squirrely bastards. Rein is my bodyguard hero, he doesn't goddamn leave his healer's side.

 

You know I never really made the connection before, but I like that basically symmetra's whole move set is KEEP AWAY FROM ME WHY ARE YOU NEAR ME STOP DOING THE THING

Like she's literally "don't come into my personal space: the class" and I like that
