Also, for anyone looking to farm items ive been working on a thief team. Basically, since you're likely to get an item before you run out of moves and you cant hold a leppa berry anyway if youre stealing items, you just dont bother with recycle. Depending on the pokemon youre farming, an absol with false swipe and thief accompanied by a team of thief granbulls works quite well. Granbulls are great bc they resist fighting and are immune to dragon, two types you might be farming that are also fairly strong(jangomo-o and evos for razor claws and hariyama for kings rocks).

Also heres a short list of pokemon for farming
Magnemite for metal coats- found at Malie City's outer cape(the recycling plant)
Elekid for electrizers- found at Blush Mountain(power plant)
Magby for magmarizers- found at the volcano
Hariyama for king's rock- found in Poni Plains
Alt. Slowbro for king's rock- found in grass at Kala'e Bay(bad idea, slowbros are RARE apparently. I just caught a shiny slowpoke before finding a kings rock)
Jangomo-o for razor claws- found in Vast Poni Canyon in the grass next to the big tree you can walk on

 

I was checking IVs for fun and I... I have no words.

 

ALSO, compound eyes will save your life. for razor claws, they only have a 5% chance of being on them-- but w/ compound eyes, it turns into 50%. you need the pokemon w/ the ability in the front of your party-- they can be fainted, and itll still work!

 

Fuck yes, compound eyes is important- but wait, i thought it only increased to 20%? Plus, if you're gonna chain I'm fairly sure the compound eyes pokemon needs to be in battle when the new ally is called. Generally thats okay though, bc butterfree has compound eyes and can learn thief

Btw- any confirmation that Pressure increases chances of an ally being called? I've heard that from a few people, but like no one ik to be reliable for that sort of thing

third time of considering redoing my entire team.. and this is just for the story mode, i dont do competitive stuff, what is wrong with me :(

 

I redo my team for each trial so each pokemon is strong against the trial's type :P

 

Yeah, I ended up swapping around my team really late into the game, which is pretty unusual for me. But I realllly needed a water type before heading against the E4 and Salazzle was just too frail to be of a lot of use. I tried to have a mostly Alolan team, but in the end I only had three and then three old favorites in Espeon, Lapras, and Talonflame.

That seems like you'd need to do a lot of grinding :O
Also not terribly necessary because having one or two that can hit them for super effective and one or two that resist their moves seems to be plenty.

 

It does require a fair amount of grinding <_<; This would be why I am taking so long to play through.

I look at it as an opportunity to fill my pokedex with evos as I go along instead of saving it all for last!

 

i'm having a hard time because i want to try and have a good spread across multi types but a lot of my favorite pokemon are single types... or the double types i do like end up having a huge 4x weakness against something.

it probably doesn't matter just for story completion and i'm fretting over nothing. related, i wish milotic was less of a pain to get early on. it's just a trade-with-item but you get the prism scale super late in the game :/

eh it's kind of a pain. i think the only other way to get scales aside from the one that's found on the ground is a very rare fishing chance. :( i'll get it eventually. i have a feebas from wonder trade that i need to breed so i can get a nickname-able female.

 

i am in Project/Finals Prep Hell rn but i might finally be able to get back to playing pokemon at least off and on next week??? so like. if u guys want any exclusives from moon lemme know and i'd be happy to go on a catching spree bc i'm planning on training a bunch of my mons so i can get those evos for the dex anyway.

also if it's true that there's gonna be a pokemon game for the nintendo switch i'm both excited but also ;.; bc my wallet......

I redo my team whenever I find out it's too unbalanced again. That being said, the Ghost trial was absolutely brutal, i only survived it because of a hella fucking lucky round in which haunter missed hypnosis and my mon dodged totem mimikyu's attack, and because lurantis does obscene amounts of damage even if it's not very effective.

 

@winterykite i'm like... right before the ghost trial and not looking forward to it. i might just try and brute force it with all the level 45+ pokemon i have.

@Alska admittedly i have no clue how to do trading and all that via internet?? i'm assuming you'd have to attach it to some random pokemon you dont care about and trade that to me or something?

 

@Aniseed pretty much! Which is fine by me, i have a bunch of pokemon i plan on wonder trading away anyway. Basically though, we swap friend codes and go to festival plaza, and i'll find you there and request a trade. If you want your milotic nicknamed and with your trainer id, you should take the scale and equip it and then trade it to me- ill trade it back immediately.

 

you might have a better chance than me then, i was high 30ies. (after spending a whole damn day farming a mimikyu, Trellisde/Pallosand is now lvl 44 and on a back burner while i get Belleiri/Ribombee, Nereisa/Lurantis, and Junnatawa/Toxapex in that range)

 

@Alska I'm glad the gender split for feebas is 50%... i managed to hatch a female in 3 eggs. I think i'll save the trading to evolve it to do with one of my roommate though so they can get the dex entries for feebas and milotic, but i'm happy to take the scale off your hands whenever! my fc is 1005-9742-3325
