just in case anyone is curious about me or why i am here (fair, this is a small forum meant for people who know each other) this is the post about who is mouse. do not feel like you must reply to this fairly standard person introduction post. mouse is also http://littlewhitemouse.tumblr.com/ and http://flightrising.com/main.php?p=lair&tab=userpage&id=97682 and http://archiveofourown.org/users/Littlewhitemouse in case you recognize my name from elsewhere. this is p much the username i use anymore. i am here because i read Kagerou a LONG time ago, and kept reading it, because it's really good. Kagerou went hiatus, i wanted more stuff from Luka, so i read brainbent, followed his tumblr some years back, then followed the tumblrs of everyone else involved with brainbent, then pretty much anyone else involved in that little homestuck friends circle. well, when they were homestuck friends. now they seem to be friends in general. i HIGHLY DOUBT any of you recognize me from anywhere, but if you do, awesome! hell if i know why you know me. i am just a mouse. why is the mouse on kintsugi? i am here because of Ray/CAA, like so very many of us. i was following the debacle because 1. i follow the vast derp and 2. my sister and i make a hobby out of internet atrocity tourism and without meaning to she got involved in the decable itself. my sister would be amberbydreams. she just posted her run in with Ray on the complaints department thread and linked me to it, and i had to sign up to see it, so HERE I AM. this is the whole story. I too have been following that ongoing shitstorm like a masochistic storm chaser. who is the mouse in general? i am a small polyamorist queer living in minnesota who loves cartoons, books, languages, etymology, and plants. i LOVE them plants. and the natural world in general. respond to post with facts about cephalopods instead of generic hellos if you got them, i LOVE cephalopods. i am ready for land-dwlling octopods to inherit the earth personally.
This is not actually a "forum meant for people who know each other", it just happened to get a big early membership boost from people who knew me.
I would argue that it's a forum meant for people who know eachother insofar as it generates people who know eachother.
possibly a forum for people who are willing to attempt to understand each other & put that effort in so slightly more likely to become a forum for people who have higher chances of knowing one another
i may have slightly misunderstood the origin of this forum as i sort of saw it as 'the forum where all those people who already know each other communicate with each other and the CAA logs are on it.' luckily i have a long track record of misunderstanding the fundamental elements of things and i am unfazed! kintsugi just has such a low membership roll, i was sort of leery about showing up with no explanation and making people worry about who this fuckin clown is showing up out of nowhere.
hi! :D which cartoons are you into? and yeah, kintsugi is not a place meant only for People Who Know Each Other. like, i'm on here and i'm pretty sure i had never really interacted with anyone on here (apart from sending @seebs asks/submits about stuff on anon) anywhere else before joining. so yeah, like, i sorta know people now and they sorta know me, but... i didn't and they didn't before i joined. so yeah... everyone's welcome here, not just people who happen to know people. :D
well, that's good to know >u< good to meet ya. and i have to say i'm into pretty much every cartoon. i am a huge nerd for good animation and the use of animation to tell stories that would be hard to tell with real life, so, i think Akira is the best film ever made, i'm pumped as heck for Steven Universe, i will scream about Secret of Kells or Song of the Sea on command, and i know, like, a LOT about anime. my girlfriend and i are watching HunterxHunter right now and i like it a lot : O basically, like, all cartoons? i'm a purveyor of Cartoons In General.

@boyacrossthestreet HAVE YOU SEEN SONG OF THE SEA YET??? it's the new film by the same company and it's JUST AS MAGICAL i honestly think it's more beautiful, the art is AMAZING, so is the story, it's about selkies and fair folk and the backgrounds are all in watercolor and it's so WELL DESIGNED, just look up some SCREENCAPS, siiiigghhh yeah secret of kells changed me, i had never seen a film animated in such a unique fashion. they rock the medieval manuscript aesthetic so hardcore that they ignore physics and 'looking pretty' a lot of the time, like in the room where brendan's father has his blueprints scrawled everywhere in this flat, dimensionless bluespace, like the obsession has actually taken over the room and deprived his life of any perspective outside of this room and his wall and his flat conception of reality, and i think that's AWESOME. i love how they tie knotwork into everything too, like with the knotwork trees, and the tiny knotwork snowflakes, it gives me such happy feelings : D i love creative animation and unique animation and apparently RELENTLESSLY IRISH animation. i just love it when animation realizes its a drawn medium removed form reality so it doesn't ave to act like a video camera filiming real life, it can do whatever it wants, it can be imaginative, childlike, it can meld real life and fantasy like in paprika, or totally blow life out of proportion like in red line, or it can say fuck physics and fuck your disney aesthetic too like SECRET OF KELLS. i love animation. how about you
Oh God I Love the art styles of secret of kells just I don't even have words for it, I try to get other people to watch it on their own first, because when I watch it I just, talk about the style the entire time. Okay now I have to get song of the sea. This looks freaking Gorgeous.
Song of the sea made me cry real tears. i recommend it. i find myself recommending these two movies a lot, yeah. and like you i always harp on the unique style and forget to tell people 'they also kick literally everyone's keiser at storytelling'. i still get chills when i remember aisling saying 'turn the darkness into light' in the last moment we see her....
Gosh yes, Secret of Kells and Song of the Sea. I fucking love those movies. And the songs. I can't help but notice that you have an Utena rose as your avatar, too. Do you know of the joy that is Wakfu?
@littlewhitemouse steven universe is awesome! pearl is my fave on that show (i identify with her so much) and pearlrose is my otp. btw, does "pretty much every cartoon" include fairly oddparents and have you heard of norm the genie (a character from fairly oddparents and my absolute fave 5ever)?
I didn't come here to start an involved discussion of animation, but I have zero complaints. @Wiwaxia I haven't learned the selkie's song yet, but when i do, rest assured, no one will stop hearing me sing it. Yeah, the rose seal is my default online avatar because it fits in the little box and i never get tired of being low-level associated with Utena in people's heads. RGU unironically meant a lot to me, it's probably on the top tier of things to be associated with on forums as far as I am concerned. Wakfu is something i have heard a lot of good things about but haven't sat down to watch myself! this is often where i sit with shows, i can get impatient watching long shows so i hesitate to start them unless i know they're REALLY good, so this is one i put on the backburner and forgot to look up again. is it worth watching? i will totally check it out if it is, i haven't thought about watching it in a while is all. @unknownanonymous I knew I would dig my own grave by the noted hyperbole 'pretty much every cartoon' but today is not the day i dig that grave. I LOVE fairly odd parents, it was my groove several years ago but it's still somewhere in my subconscious making me occasionally quote Cosmo and sometimes look incredibly stupid doing so. (I named my nickel Philip! It's a GIRL NICKEL!) And while I recognized Norm when I saw him, I don't seem to remember him in particular, sad to say. It was something i watched when it was on cable, so i never saw every episode or anything like that. personally, i was a pretty big fan of wandissimo. he was so ABSURD just thinking about that tiny buff fairy and Wanda crooning his name in her weird crackling voice can crack me up to this day. EDIT: and oh yea, SU!!! I am a huuuuuuuuge dork for steven universe, it is seriously my jam right now. I'm weak for rose/pearl too, like, REALLY weak, because i get pearl's unhealthy but sincere devotion to rose, her Do it For Her mentality, i am a lot like that myself, i have problems doing things for myself but its easy to do even hard things for people i love because i consider them so much more important. so i Feel pearl's situation, with the full knowledge that maybe she isn't going about things in the best way. i can't tell you how i cried my eyes out in the episode about rose's sword when it first became apparent that she was really, really in love with Rose and really broken up by rose's death... Rebecca Sugar said in one episode that the gem steven currently knows the least about is Pearl, so im very excited to see what she means by that! i have a weakness for ballet bird mom. @littlewhitemouse awesome! and yeah, norm was only in three episodes, unfortunately, so he's pretty easy to miss if you haven't watched the entire show. and just... i have so many norm the genie feels... wandissimo is quite the character, yep. :D oh yes! pearl totally became my fave in rose's scabbard 'cause yeah... i just saw how she felt for rose and... well, i can get pretty intense feelings for people too, so... and when it comes to shipping, i just love love love that kind of ship, with the character with intense feelings like that. just yeah... my feels... and then sworn to the sword came along and yep, pearl's totes my su fave. it's solidified now. do it for her is my fave su song at the moment too. (at the moment 'cause su isn't finished yet and so another song could easily come along and replace it. before stronger than you, i didn't really like su's songs but stronger than you won me over on that front and was my fave su song until do it for her came along.) and yeah, su does do storytelling and characterization really well, though it took me a while to actually get sucked in. i think i started really liking it when the homeworld gems and stuff came along. 'cause, well, i'm a sucker for magic/sci-fi type stuff, a lot more than i am for, well, mundaner stuff. yeah...
