Can this also be a place where we share amazing figure skating in general? Because I just rewatched this and it remains one of the most amazing things I have ever seen. (Jason Brown doing an Irish step-inspired routine, with a ridiculously rad step sequence)

 

I am 100% for that, and I'm gonna assume everyone into skating has seen Torville & Dean's Bolero routine from the 84' olympics but JUST IN CASE

I suggest turning it right down because that audio is over 30 years old now and showing its age x3

 

I'm pretty ok with it since it was explicitly stated. I think the idea that homophobia is a thing but they're just not going to address it would bug me, but going "nah, it's just normal in this universe" is actually kind of cool.

 

I honestly don't consider this fluff because it has a plot outside of "they're gay and in love." It's a sports anime with a huge love sideplot, but the skating is still the central conflict of the story.
And I really appreciate that we get a gay love story without a heaping helping of angst for once in our damn lives.

 

Just finished the first episode of this thing because THE HYPE IS REAL on my dash recently. Really fucking adorable so far. I've already been spoilered to high heaven, and I'm excited to join in with the collective screaming that has been happening recently. :P

@littlewhitemouse, you might appreciate that the nonnies over at Fail Fandom Anon seem to be fans of gay Phichit headcanons.

(A lot of them also seem to enjoy headcanoning him as having unrequited feelings for Yuuri, and for them to possibly have been FWB prior to the show. I'm not so much of a fan of that, although I do subscribe to their hypothesis that Phichit got a Groupon for pole-dancing classes and dragged Yuuri along with him.)

Fun fact, the woobly-shaped buildings the characters visit in Barcelona are real! They were designed by renowned Modernist architect Antoni Gaudi. I think Otabek and Yuri's conversation takes place on top of this building in Park Guell. The Basilica de la Sagrada Familia, which I think is where Yuuri and Viktor exchanged their rings, was also designed by Gaudi. The church's construction was originally interrupted by the Spanish Civil War, and it's still not quite finished today, but they do hold services.

Yes, I am trying to find some significance behind the prevalence of his buildings in the new episode besides "Gaudi built all the best parts of Barcelona."
