i'm being a little bit snobby rn and only playing alola pokemon until i get the champion badge (pikachu is an exception because catastropika is a thing i need in my life, but she got switched for the indigo minior i managed to get my grubby hands on)

verdict: there are so many solgaleos. help. i am drowning in them. i also don't have a very reliable way of dealing with steel types, i've discovered :| (my general strategy so far is a toxic team with merciless toxapex, soooooo....hard time with steel types)

 

@BunjyWunjy get a 6iv ditto for starters. You can try and go out and get one yourself(a pain, but doable with sos chaining or dexnav chaining) or wait until r/breedingdittos is open again. In sun/moon you can check IVs easily- at the battle tree theres an IV judge who will give you the ability to check them yourself via the pc once youve hatched 20+ eggs. Next you give ditto a destiny knot to help pass down it's IVs to the offspring, put it in the nursery with the pokemon you want bbies of, and go to town hatching eggs.

The nature of the pokemon is also important, as natures help one stat and hinder another, so check out a chart to see which are affected.

Once you have good bbies, you can do one of two things- throw them onto isle evelup or start ev training by fighting specific pokemon. For example, scyther gives 1 attack point, granbull gives 2 attack points, raticate give 2 speed points. The most evs a pokemon can have in one stat is 252, and you can have this much in 2 stats and 4 evs in a third. I believe smogon has potential set ups for pokemon, and serebii does a pokemon of the week where they put out an article a week discussing a specific pokemon's viability and potential sets.

This all is of course if you want like, actual competitive shit to wreck his team lol, and you should probably check that this is all correct because i dont do competitive this is just what ive absorbed from the pokemon reddit and serebii.net

I chained up a Bounsweet with 4 perfect IVs and 2 great IVs, got her to level 100, and hyper trained her.

IDK if she's competetively viable but I just love Tsareena, haha.

 

That sounds pretty competitive viable to me. I've never done actual competitive before, but after playing for 15 years I might give it a try. I've just. Never done any IV work before.

 

She's also Hasty, which really helps to make up for Tsareena's mediocre speed.

 

I'm in your boat, I only really started poking at competetive builds in the last few gens and have only battled with my brother before.

I am now working my way through dex completion in the post-game and while I am 20 years late hopping on the boat, i am having a great time. Turns out my fiance and I forgot to trade BACK after poli-volution trading so he could finish his dex, so I am without my usual secondary waterbeast, which is weird.

(im on v4, almost 200k thumbs) first one in that range i got outside of the abandoned mart where a mimikyu netted me a 7k something on v3, and i got multiple 7k+ haunters and gengar. will post the pictures at some point maybe? i save many of them to my sd card because this is the closest to a remake of snap we're getting and i love screencapping stuff.

 

What all(if anything) are you guys planning to send out on wt for the holidays? Im sending out a big mix of evolved pokemon, pokemon that evolve via trade or stone, and HA pokemon i think.
