Yuri!!! on Ice has literally never been fucking around. If it ever looked like it was fucking around, that's because it was keeping plot-relevant information for a later date so that it could reveal it in an even less fuck-around way.

At the end of the previous ep when Yuri said about giving Viktor something round and golden, which I was watching with @Beldaran, I was immediately like HOLY SHIT THEY'RE GONNA GET MARRIED
eventually tempered my expectation to 'oh I'm sure he just meant the gold medal'
SO HAPPY TO BE PROVEN WRONG/RIGHT. WRIGHT? RONGT?

Late, but - yeah, Yuri's the only one who's reacting properly to the fact that Yurio pushed himself way too hard in that program, and Yuri can't really do much about it. Victor maybe could - and I suspect that we'd be seeing Yurio doing a very different sort of training if Victor were still part of the Russian team; I don't think Victor would be letting Yurio starve himself or push himself so far past his limits (or be encouraged to do that, either). It'd piss off both of the coaches, but it'd be better for Yurio.

(I suspect the other skaters are letting it slide because clearly Yurio's coach knows what he's doing right? It'd be rude to question that when Yurio's clearly doing great in his program. And everyone else pushed themselves really hard too, after that. And most of the audience doesn't have enough context to know that Yurio shouldn't be near collapse right after finishing that program.)

Yurio's in The Zone. That's beautiful. I'm a bit concerned as to what kind of conclusion Yuuri's making when he sees Victor watching Yurio, though.

I was sitting here softly going "oh noooooooo" as I watched Yuuri's jerk brain stick the knife in again and again. Oh god. Poor guy. I feel so bad for him.

Yuuri was completely different in this Eros from the others - the comparison is so stark and difficult to watch - his glare! his stiffness!!

i'm just ANXIOUS about what his ending things means for their relationship - i doubt the writer would pull off a "no homo!" at the eleventh hour, but.... i fear. i am afraid.

I'm fairly sure Yuuri's thinking that if he doesn't get gold, Viktor will leave. He doesn't really think of himself as worthy of love, not really? It's been all about his love for Viktor. I think his growing fear watching Viktor watching the others skate was that he'd disappointed him, and that their engagement was entirely reliant on Yuuri winning the gold. That was poor phrasing on Viktor's part at the dinner. Meanwhile it seems Viktor is increasingly concerned that Yuuri is going to wind up hating himself/skating, and I think he recognized that every skater that placed higher than Yuuri would be like a boulder on his back.
Viktor really needs to open up with him. He's very physically affectionate, but not very emotionally open. I'm hoping that before the free skate, we'll have a late-night rink visit with just the two of them, maybe replicate the opening, and when Yuuri does his free skate he'll be able to show the world love for Viktor and himself.

Spoiler: 11 rewatch in progress

Viktor brings the ring hand up to his mouth when Yuuri's score is announced, and I think he worries that Yuuri will leave him if he doesn't win gold, because his coaching wasn't good enough. I also think Viktor is extremely worried about Yurio and sees himself in him, especially after the record announcement. That's a path to losing an identity outside of skating, outside of being a beautiful thing like the ballerina was talking about previously.
I need these boys to have fun together before the end ;n;
