I was wondering if they'd changed that! It has already exploded, but I am entirely too nervous to go back and keep looking haha.
every time i start up this game i forgot they updated it to make the gasopod's laugh and it is SO CREEPY. STOP BEING CREEPY i just hugged the side until i got to the entrance, the reapers don't go close enough to it to get you that way unless you brought a seamoth, thank god. also i'm semi-regretting building my base by the aurora cause i have to take one specific route to get to it to avoid the reapers, and that makes the journey SO long if i'm coming from the koosh zone/floating island ;a; but i have so much stuff in that base that i'll need that i don't feel like moving, at least not until i got the bioreactor or nuclear reactor blueprints
Spoiler: Possibly spoily if you like to figure things out yourself. The cyclops is completely invincible to reaper leviathan attacks unless its below crush depth. They just bang it around.
holy shit really? i didn't know that. time to build a cyclops that said, not sure if it's been fixed since, but also regarding cyclops Spoiler: also possibly spoiler-y bringing the cyclops below the crush depth of the seamoth - whatever it may be, will start to crush an on-board seamoth and eventually destroy it
im not quite used to it yet :P it was implemented with either the PRAWN update or the mini-update before it, so it's so recent to me that when I hear it I immediately flip out and go "WHAT THE FU CK IS THAT"
I'm getting a bit pissy but hopefully I can be more patient now that I can upgrade my oxygen tank and my pressure compensator but... I know where certain fragments are supposed to be. The alien containment is supposed to be in the Koosh Zone wreck, to which there is only one, but I'm not finding it ANYWHERE in there. Granted I can only grab one fragment at a time before I have to enter the Seamoth for air, but I'm still not finding it. There are also apparently two types of PRAWN upgrades in the Mountains wreck, to which there is also only one, but I've only found the torpedo arm?? and i don't need or want the torpedo arm I want the drill arm?? why are they not there. I know they're available in game.
I printed out a map earlier so maybe mapping coordinates of certain wrecks to make sure I'm getting the right ones when there's multiples in the biome is a time effective thing to do P:
So, there was a glitch before which might have been fixed that caused the fragments not to spawn sometimes, and restarting the game would fix that. I haven't been playing too much, but you could try that when you're in the location the fragment should be.
i remember that glitch yeah, i'll have to try that next time i feel like going out to the wrecks. my initial idea was that they are in the room the vents lead to, but unfortunately navigating the vents with the seaglide is extremely difficult ;a;
[kicks down the door] I'm a big bottle of stress so have a "things I want to see in subnautica but probably won't" wishlist More fauna interactions or history. I want to be able to study why exactly there are stalkers around the aurora but not a single one of them is in the kelp forest at the rear. My initial theory is cause of the reaper back there. I want to see fauna food chain beyond biters attacking smaller fish and a vague movement from the reaper that indicates he's eating. I want to see sandsharks fight each other for that particular school of fish - I want a starving reaper to attack a reefback out of desperation. WEATHER! I want to experience the same horrible storms the Degrasi survivors supposedly did. I want to be hurt if I'm on the island during them and I want my seamoth to get tossed around like the small vessel it is near the surface. I want the lifepod to flip and force me to flip it back over if my gravity sensors aren't turned on. I want to be able to make an actual map to build on as I explore more. Eventually I want to build it out from just the borders of biomes to things like reaper spawn points, wrecks, and resources.
FIRST OF ALL MOTHER. FUCKING. ALIENS. SECOND OF ALL. SHIT ON THE MOUNTAIN ISLAND. THIRD OF ALL I CAN NO LONGER GO JUMPING OFF CLIFFS LIKE A MANIAC CAUSE FALL DAMAGE BUT THATS OKAY
so....I just watched a video from Mark about the Precursor update, and it's super cool and all, but I have questions. so many questions. like, for one thing, we know there was alien life on here at one point--where did they go? what happened to them? were they just visiting the planet, or did they live there? if they lived there, is more evidence of them living there going to be added to the game, or what? if they were just visiting, why leave a giant gun to shoot ships down? what's the point of the gun, why does it exist? also, it's pretty apparent the gun is built, like, into the island, so I think we can probably assume that it's not like there was more land at one point and then something happened to knock out everything but a few specific things--so what kind of aliens were they? amphibious? I doubt they were water-dwelling, but there are so few islands that it seems equally unlikely for them to have been more similar to a human in makeup than, say, a frog or something. I just. aaaaaaaaaaaaaaa. so cool. but there's SO MUCH I WANT TO KNOW
I put my working theory under the cut if you're interested :D Spoiler I think the precursor aliens were somehow wiped out, by what, I don't know, but they're technology and the creatures they befriended are, obviously, still active. The warpers are said to be their protectors and that's why they spawn where they do (which is seemingly random, but I think all their spawn locations correspond with current or future precursor updates. I think all of their spawn points are near an entrance to the inactive lava zone, which is where the other precursor base is. As for the gun, why it's there, it's said in the background frequency in the mountain island base that they have to gun to what I assume is meant to say to protect something from getting discovered, which would be the sea emperor, which isn't implemented yet but is said to be trapped in the lost river/prison zone and the player's job is to free it, I assume it was trapped by the precursors. Now that I type that I think the precursors fought the creature who's skeleton we see in the lost river, and they used the gun on it to kill it but not without sustaining such losses to their population that now they can't repopulate against all the ocean life, and thus, died out, or the aurora's explosion may have killed them in some way or another. Very sensitive to radioactive exposure, perhaps?
Spoiler: Shit you find in logs and lore crap You find that in the logs. The planet is under quarantine for some disease that you and everything on it apparently have. Giant gun is to shoot down any ships near the planet so as to keep any infected individuals from leaving. As for where the Precursor's are that I'm not sure. I've only been to the Array and I've yet to find the Disease Research base because it's apparently at a depth of 800m.
:o admittedly I was not paying enough attention to the logs :P that's REALLY interesting. and....also spawns more questions, but hey, I'm sure we'll learn more eventually. this is a cool theory, and I wonder how it plays into the thing Aon mentioned? Spoiler: crazy what if explanation what if trapping the sea emperor is directly related to the disease spawning or something? and also what if the disease eventually just....kills everyone who has it, and the precursors couldn't find a cure for it and then died because they weren't aware of/didn't notice the link between the sea emperor being trapped and the disease existing, so with no cure and having not released the sea emperor, they couldn't fight the disease off?
Spoiler: i have a cheat file so i went to the disease facility "Massive internal damage recorded in lifeform containment unit 7 (leviathan). Facility structural integrity compromised. Immediate specimen destruction protocol initiated. 314 specimens destroyed. 1 specimen unaccounted for. Initiated planetary quarantine protocol." This device contains functional information regarding a second alien facility on the planet. Disease Research Facility Personnel: 7 Function: Live specimen study Objective: Synthesis of antidote for highly infectious bacterium designated 'Carar' Method: Infection of live specimens with bacteria; observation of immune response; surviving specimens sent to primary facility for further analysis. Precautions: Remote research site to reduce risk of contagion. Offsite thermal power generator. Ground-to-air weapon system in case of security breach. In the event of outbreak, quarantine procedures will be automatically enforced with immediate effect. The ground-to-air weapon will target all incoming and outgoing craft, to prevent the spread of infection offworld. The facility was built at a depth of 700m, approximately 1km south-west of the super weapon. Massive internal damage recorded in lifeform containment unit 7 (leviathan). Facility structural integrity compromised. Immediate specimen destruction protocol initiated. 314 specimens destroyed. 1 specimen unaccounted for. Initiated planetary quarantine protocol. WARNING: No ships will be permitted to enter or leave orbit without proper clearance. Orbital clearance will not be granted to infected individuals. Clean genetic signature required.
Okay so disregard my working theory - the game's story is far more fleshed out in the current available beta builds (which is what I'm playing and cheating in features of) than I originally thought. Spoiler: disease research spoilers The precursor's were wiped out by their own disease some 1000 years ago and the disease is still ravaging the planet, hence why the gun is shooting down ships and hence why you have to free the sea emperor
