Let me tell you about the Thirteen
There was no outright "healer" among the Thirteen, but cases could be made for Solus (via construction and creation), Alchemist (via chemistry and structure), or Quintus (the only one who can explicitly create life). On the other hand, if they really are building a new Thirteen there's nothing to say duties/alignments would be exactly the same as the old Thirteen-- whose reign notably ended very badly for Cybertron and the species as a whole. I should also note here that only one of the Thirteen was actually a Matrix-bearer; 'Prime' as a title at the time may have had some connection to religion and Primus, but they didn't start shoving shiny rocks in people's chests til... sometime after Nova, I'd assume, since the Matrix didn't get lost in the Dead Universe when he and his crew went On An Adventure. The Matrix was originally in the hilt (? I assume either the pommel or crossguard, I can't find image and haven't actually got to see any of the old Thirteen in Prime yet) of a sword, and we don't know how it got from there to something that goes in people's chests. (Interestingly, said sword was supposed to be the ultimate embodiment of destruction, and given how wrong things seem to go for Matrix-bearers I am Curious about how much of that was the sword itself and how much was the Matrix...)

Oh. Oh oh oh! Also, if we hold to 'the Thirteen were divinely-created and the Hand/Primus's first children,' they were made specifically in a time of war. What if! What if a new Thirteen, brought to... not life, since a good chunk of them were sparked/built before the war, but... cognizance? Duty? by the end of the war and the return of peace? In that case, it would be terribly easy to replace one of the old Thirteen (though I'd be hard-pressed to pick which, even if I think IDW would go with Liege Maximo :T) with a new Prime specifically devoted to healing, salvaging, the saving of what already is rather than throwing everything away and building something entirely new. (Which would dovetail nicely with earlier Autobot policy/ideals, if hypothetical Healer Prime does turn out to be Ratchet...)

(This is, of course, assuming comics-verse keeps the same Thirteen as Aligned-verse, since we don't actually have names on all the comics-Thirteen yet.)

Well, Nova seems to have more or less gone "look at this artifact of the Primes. I bear this therefore I am a Prime." And everyone nodded and went "seems legit" because he'd conquered the planet. And we don't know that he bonded to it but we do know that he then tossed it to Tyrest and was like "hey Tyrest I need an army of sparks to conquer the galaxy with see what you can do." After which it got stolen by a horrified researcher and hidden until Optimus found it at which point it seems likely that Nominus probably faked up the whole "matrix affinity" thing to let him take power. Which in turn suggests hilariously that matrix affinity might not actually exist since Optimus notably doesn't have it and had to be modified for it and he and Rod (and Thunderclash) may be the first people to actually bond with the thing since Solus.

Also - I have to very, very highly recommend Captivated! It just finished today, and it's Starscream/Grimlock fun times! (For some reason it's got a major character death warning tag but...as far as I can tell, no major characters died. At all /massive shrug/). Starscream and Grimlock is such a good pairing...

Allenna I am not a Dragon. Or a Robot. Really.

It is very good and so was the first one of the series! I think the major character death warning because the character in question was a major character in G1?

Quark cross-stitch!! Finally. Because I got brain drugs and remembered how to write in the middle of things, and spent an entire month just getting starscream laid, but it makes me antsy to have projects sitting around for too long because after a certain point I tend not to finish them :P

    quark cross-stitch.jpg

I'm probably going to make something for Larry next, because my brain is fixated on symmetry and balance even at the expense of my own sanity. I think Tumblr may have eaten my message, or else she's busy and hasn't had a chance to catch up with things, but I'm probably going to ping her again today. I have the supplies and materials already for her Getaway picture, buuuuuut I can't decide if I just want to keep that one for myself >_> I am disappointed, because for the many-handed symbolic character picture things, the pattern has to be painfully large if I don't want the hands to turn into unrecognizable blobs, so I'm setting those aside for now. But I definitely want to do that Getaway, and even if I decide I love it too much to give it away, she's got plenty of other art that will work.

(also if I keep getaway, my wall will be full of cross-stitches of my most terrible, wonderful faves. Megatron, Starscream, and Tarn (and whirl). If I do Overlord (blowing rotorstorm's head off) and Prowl (being himself) too, that makes a really nice matched set :3c )

    Ahh, thank you! And nine by fourteen inches!! I think it's about the same surface area as my Starscream one. I really, really wanted to make it smaller, but I was already sacrificing so much detail that I just couldn't do it ;u;

Hey hey hey guys, so I have that little Starscream thing I like to do where he has some kind of intimate engraving that's a quote of Megatron's. And there's that thing we were discussing about Terminus engraving Megatron's writings on himself. I don't know what I want to do with that, or if there's even a clean story there (the only one i see at a glance retreads the same ground as the starscream/rodimus, which is no fun), but that is such a cool fanon parallel that I need to do something.

(maybe art?? the thought of drawing that much nice robot anatomy is *sobs off into the sunset*, and it wouldn't be the same as written descriptions and emotional pov flavoring, but it is a very visual parallel)

Starscream still having some kind of twisted, savage pride about his old devotion to Megatron and the cause, vs Terminus, who literally carved the manifesto not only onto other people's dead bodies, but also his own - PTA meeting edition

Terminus: Well, I was there when Megatron first wrote it! I have the preface to the unedited first edition engraved in my very spark chamber!
Starscream, leaping over the table and pulling off his interface cover: FIGHT ME HELEN

It's too bad Tarn won't be joining them, just to up the level of cultish nonsense. He had a bunch of first editions, after all. Who knows what he had carved on the inside of that mask.

Ahahaha, I feel like if he tried to join the game of one-upmanship, Terminus and Starscream would turn on him together with a perfectly united 'shut up, sharon', and go back to fighting each other, and Tarn sits in his bedroom crying and eating haagen dazs while the rest of the DJD tells him that no, he's totally cool, those other guys don't know what they're talking about. Do you want to hunt down some defectors? You always feel better after we hunt down defectors.

I am now picturing a bizarre Mean Girls-esque scenario where Starscream and Overlord are part of Megatron's old clique while Terminus is the childhood friend who he's finally returned to the side of and Terminus and Starscream are just constantly going at it over how much they've given to him you don't even know--

and then there's Tarn and his group of friends, still trying to catch Megatron's attention to no avail. If Terminus is the dreamy nerd girl childhood friend and Starscream is the bitter queen bee with a sordid history, then Tarn is the locker-room bully who just doesn't understand why no one finds him as cool as everyone else.
