Screams omg this thread exists I'm pretending the series ended after season 5 with a few random bits from 6 and 7 thrown in and Benny is somehow a part of everything despite being from s8. >.< so many people dying. loses impact. especially if you keep bringing them back to life. and they never bring back the actual awesome characters. And yes to the fans being treated shittily and the lady characters not getting anything better when they clearly deserved better.
i was able to deal with bela being killed, i guess, because it made sense plot-wise the point i stopped watching was when they fridged meg tbh and like...i get why they did it? the actress had MS and had to give up acting, which SUCKS, and i feel so bad for her, but like............why fridge the character. why. shes a body hopping demon there is no reason to fridge a character like that because the actress has to leave aughhHHHH
adding my token to the 'shame it only lasted 5 seasons' pile; i enjoyed the show more for its monsters-of-the-week than anything and tended to get really attached to the minor or oneshot cast, and when they stopped doing that in favor of Messy Neverending Ongoing Clusterfuck Plot i was like lol nope seeya later also the increasing reliance on gendered slurs and CONSTANTLY DROPPING FEMALE CHARACTERS LIKE GORE-SPLATTERED FLIES was getting on my nerrrrves (AM I THE ONLY ONE WHO REALLY REALLY REALLY LOVED ALL THE SPECIAL CHILDREN THEY WERE SO GOOD) (ALSO ZACHARIAH AND URIEL WERE ASSHOLES AND I LOVE THEM)
So the thing that really opened my salt mine was realising that Bobby stole Ellen's identity, and then the writers blew her up. I mean there are a quite a few opportunities to compare "this is the female version of this character, and this is the male version, now let's see the differences" but Ellen/Bobby is the most glaring.
Why was it so bad i love some of the moments between the brothers and especiallu with the car but it is so awful? Luckily i never got into following it i guess. More it was a thing id watch occassionsllu and usuallu with my mom.
As someone whose gone on lots of roadtrips and whose mom had thr same car for mpst of my life things like remembring the lego piece that got stuck between the door were just weirdly poignabt to me. People make fun of americans for it but cars really are just that important to many of us. Even i the man who still refuses to get a license.
I honestly wonder sometimes how much better-off Sam and Dean would be, in terms of everything, if Bobby had told their father "nope, you're leaving the boys here, you're not taking them out with you when you're hunting something that eats children, the hell would you want them there for?" (Like, let's be clear: the only reason to have the boys there instead of well out of the danger zone is to use them as bait. It's not like they hadn't stayed at Bobby's before, when their dad felt it was too dangerous for them to come along.) And then their dad, being a phenomenal jackass, just...never comes back to pick them up. (Which Bobby knew would happen, I bet. He knew that the man was too into hunting. But it's better for Sam and Dean to not be dragged around the country all the time.) The boys miss him for a long while. But they stop expecting him to come back, ever. They have a stable home life, if not a normal one. Sam gets encouraged to go to university and law school if that's what he wants - how many hunters could use a lawyer on their side, after all? And hunting might be the family business, but it's better to be a hunter who's doing it because they want to - not because their family's preventing them from being able to even consider leaving it. [strikethrough]And then the whole bullshit with the angels doesn't happen, or at least happens in a way that makes it not a Messy, Overly Complicated Plot That Won't Die. The boys damn well wouldn't grow up with any trust for something that claims it's on the side of the lord without proof, and I'm betting Bobby would've hammered some actual sense of moderation into their heads too.[/strikethrough]
Same hat! I kept sidewatching because some of my siblings are still into the shitstorm this show has become, so i can kinda bullshit my way through whats going on currently, but really its all just nonsense. Also my sisters ex is cousins with jared padalecki and babysits for him sometimes when theyre at a con the ex can actually go to, and they just get vip passes to go anywhere they want and skip lines and shit and its really bullshit. Surprisingly one of the few wild stories this guy has told that WAS true. Also apparently misha collins is a huge dick in real life but take that with about a pound of salt cause ex lies a lot.
basically though. plan for new SPN: Dean and Sam are mentioned to be in therapy. Charlie talks to them occasionally. they seem to be doing better. yes I will absolutely keep pushing this idea
The anime was really fun iirc, it very much has that early show feel and the dubbed version has either sam or dean (cant remember which) with a voice actor that sounds like a surfer dude
I'll admit, I have some of the books still hanging around, and I'll admit as well, they are very well written and I'd actually quite recommend picking one up. They're not written by the show's creators, obviously, or else I wouldn't be saying they're good, and while they're not great, they go back to the show's old themes of monster of the week w/o bad plot to spoil it with newer characters and they're overall just an enjoyable read. Honestly I'm still slightly a fan but only of some of the characters as I knew them when I stopped watching. As for the actors though I only follow Misha and Felicia outside of SPN though. I'm a fan of some of the fanwork...? Let's go with that. I'll deny up and down the "canon" exists at this point. Speaking of the canon though does anyone know what bullshit is happening? :P
Yeah you can watch it on youtube. The gore factor gets turned up about eleven notches, youve been warned
Last time i got a rundown gods sister the darkness (aka what there was before let there be light) had arisen and was trying to kill everyone, dean had some weird mark of cain bullshit that randomly made him straight up murder folks sometimes, and castiel and crowley are slowly but surely developing a quasiromantic buddy cop like dynamic. i ship it.
