It's definitely not something the books put in a positive light often- The whole debacle with Bluestar renaming Brightpaw was definitely against the thing, and in Crookedstar's case I don't remember exactly how it went down, but it definitely depicted his mother as abusive and i think it was her that requested the name change??
The only place where it's sorta neutrally depicted is with Brokenstar, and with the original thunderclan elders, who just seemed sorta amused at their retirement names.

 

I remembered the Brightpaw part, but I wasn't aware of Crookedstar's story.

brokenstar i sorta give a pass because yellowfang was basically naming him after her broken heart, it just happened that he also had a crooked tail

with the thunderclan elders i saw their retirement names more as goofy affecionate nicknames, instead of a serious renaming idk

 

Yeah, that's established in his super edition book, Crookedstar's Promise. His mother, Rainflower, remains one of the least liked characters cause... yeah. she gets really abusive towards him after his accident. (and upon checking the wiki, she does indeed convince the leader to rename him)

 

Eeeeyup. She wanted her "two perfect kits", and...I think the way she treated him actually broke up her relationship with Crookedstar and Oakheart's dad?

because honestly the wikia does its best but HOLY HELL.

Also I'm really curious because apparently stormfur has blood from all four clans but???? I can't find the ancestors for SkyClan and WindClan???

sky clan is the fifth clan, stormfur wouldnt have skyclan ancestry if he has blood from only 4

the wiki does say that it's ThunderClan, RiverClan, WindClan, and SkyClan he has ancestry from, though.

I figure the SkyClan is somehow through Graystripe? And I VAGUELY remember some kinda WindClan mix shit going down with RiverClan...

EDIT: YEP Crookedstar's mate (Willowbreeze) was half WindClan!!!

EDIT 2: Annnd Graystripe's mom is distantly descended from Cloudstar :D

I'm reaaaally crossing fingers at it being done for main characters finally- it didn't happen in Dawn of the Clans because it wasn't. a thing. and I really don't see Alderheart having a romance subplot- i definitely saw him and Needletail being depicted as just friends and the other focus of the series so far is siblings
Tigerheart and Dovewing might finally make mistakes to the side but i dont even care anymore =3=

 

I honestly don't care Too Much if it's done the way it was in the old clans?? Like, no one asks the queen whose they are, no one starts a fuss, just be grateful for more warriors?

it doesn't really seem like crush-territory, but like it maybe could've gone that way?

but yeah no honestly like. I want them to Stop with that shit—after it being the Main Thing for the whole power of three arc, it feels like they've kinda...used it up maybe?

 

it was used as A Twist!!™ too many times

like if it just happened a lot that would be different i think but like first there was bluestar's BIG REVEAL which was cool but then the power of three used it again as a BIG PLOT REVEAL

so it can happen, but it being a big suprise thing that is Important is imo too repetative

 

Yeah :/ Not to mention Yellowfang's Reveal, and like...Lionpaw and Heatherpaw's bit, then the whole Tiger/Dove....like....it's tired?
what I kinda wanna see is maybe smthn like...the warrior decides to join their bae's clan, and the drama comes from trying to Settle In, maybe?? bLUH.

 

i think it would be funny if there was a luke/leia oops romance but that's just for shits and giggles

(like star crossed lovers have kits, split them among their clans because adding one extra kit to a tight lipped queen's litter is less suspicious than adding 2; kits grow up, become star crossed lovers themselves while starclan collectively facepaws in the distance, and then everything comes out at a very very very awkward gathering)
