Hi, I'm OtherCat! I'm mostly here for the Boat Trolls RP but I decided that maybe trying to be social might be a thing that could happen. (Despite the subject title.) I am not awesome at social interactions and I am making one of my occasional efforts at trying to remedy that. I'm forty, vaguely pagan agnostic, and currently marching my way through Microsoft Office 2010 certification in hopes that this somehow makes me more likely to be hired. (I've been jobless/underemployed except for a brief fling with online content writing.) I have a lot of favorite authors and my fandom interest tends to lean toward books/comics as opposed to television/movie fandoms. (Mostly because I find most movies to be loud and confusing with barely discernible dialog, and I'm very picky about my television viewing.)
ooh books favorite genre? and/or most favorite ...hm... book series (I hate that question. which apparently is why I ask it)
I prefer fantasy and science fiction! I've read some mystery but I don't really like it as much as fantasy or science fiction. Favorite authors include Lois McMaster Bujold, Eric Flint, Steven Brust, Diane Duane, Seanan McGuire, P.C. Hodgell and more. Current favorite series is and continues to be Chronicles of the Kencyrath, by P.C. Hodgell. Favorite manga series (ever) is Chrono Crusade.
steven brust! *faints elegantly* I love vlad, though I don't think I've read since jhegaala also, diane duane, own that series. working on getting the new revamped version soonish so, you say eric flint- which makes me think you've also read mercedes lackey? haven't read hodgell, I will check it out-and I think I put chrono crusade on my watch list when I was still watching a lot of anime
HOLY FUCK ANOTHER HODGELL FAN *dies* I created a Hodgell thread under the fan forum but have been basically sperging about it to myself out of frustration of nobody to talk to about them!
Yes, I've read Mercedes Lackey. She was a favorite when I was a teen. Less so now, however. I would un-rec the Chrono Crusade anime. The manga is MUCH better. Though the early part of the anime has its charm, they completely ruin Joshua's arc, and they turn Aion into a two-bit wannabe anti christ.
Yay! Another Hodgell fan! I'll check your thread out sometime. Probably tomorrow as the library is closing soon.
