anyone else doing the bullet journal thing?

[vibrates] the notebook i ordered just came, its a super high quality notebook, and im v happy, b u T IT'S NOT GRIDDED WTF i ordered a gridded one and this one is blank :c

i mean i can use it for a sketchbook but like
ugh

it specifically says gridded on the amazon listing and all the reviews are positive with pictures of their bullet journals spreads on the gridded paper so like........maybe it just fucked up? sigh

 

@rats I'd definitely get in touch with the seller. I've had stuff like that happen via Amazon before and it turned out to just be a packaging error.

 

Hmm, that could work! I'm going to have to look into this more, my current attempt is really messy and feels disorganized. I'd like something more streamlined.

are the positive/negative life events stuff you're recording after the fact, and it's just an account of thing, or are they sometimes included in a to-do list? if it's for to-do things, I'm just a bit curious about why you started doing that

 

The former! They're just things that have happened (or are going to happen).

started doing index, year overview, month overview, and sleep diary pages today. page #1 is a page titled AFFIRMATIONS.

also looking into buying some zebra mildliners and the 42-count staedtler pen set because OFFICE SUPPLY PORN. still going to use any moleskine i have before i purchase a leuchtterm, because i have at least 6 moleskine that aren't set aside for particular purposes yet and i don't particularly care that most of them are lined instead of dotted.

oh hey hot tip, if you get the zebra midliners, the colours are WONDERFUL but they DO bleed at first

I'd colour with them on loose paper for a bit before trying it on your journal

pinterest (NOT THAT I'VE BEEN THERE FOR THE PAST 24 HOURS. NOPE) has some good comparisons of stabilos to staedtlers. there are two, i think nib sizes? that people use, and for one, the stabilos bleed more, and for the other, the staedtlers bleed more. i forget which one. research is out there, though. also, staedtlers have clips on their pens, and i don't think stabilos do. (in case you keep a pen loop on your journal and don't want to lose your pen. if that's important to you.)

if you have a container store near you, the container store has a 20-set of .4mm felt-tip pens for $18, or at least that's what my price tag says on it. achtung: used them for some adult coloring over xmas 8r8k and the nibs are already fraying and breaking and bleeding a little. i am disappoint.

alternatively, sharpie pens! you only get i think 8 or 10 colors, but it's a good value. you could also just get the 10-pack of staedtlers probably, but sharpie pens you can find at any office supply store. not quite as fine, they're more like .5mm or .6mm, and the nibs wear down pretty fast into a more chisel-like tip, and i don't think they last as long, but they might be archival quality (i mean... they're sharpie brand) and they don't bleed a whole lot. (just a little...)

... also the leuchtterm diaries have smaller dots/rows, looks like. fffff. want. ugh. (i have christmas money. should spend on this, or transformers? DECISIONS)

the only reason I didn't buy one is because my mom kept telling me over and over she'd get me one for christmas, and then forgot to, and moleskine was the only thing I could get before jan 1st

it's ok but it's narrower and the paper quality is kinda eh and they aren't numbered

 

I'm still trying to figure out if I want to write regular journal entries in my bullet journal or in a separate notebook

 

The colors mean nothing specific.

 

I screwed around with trying to make some fancy layouts with rulers and stencils and they all sucked. Gonna just keep doing what I've been doing in my cheap-ass Piccadilly lined books.

i can't find it in myself to regret things right now because it's really an investment in me, only i have to do it backwards because my brain, it refuses to cooperate in getting better sometimes.

 

sometimes when I'm having a bleh day, I write down little things I've already done that day (that isn't part of my to-do list) so I can cross it off and feel a little better
