Something about it just doesn't interest me. I find it dumb and I'd rather just have my natural hell species in terms of reproduction. Perhaps part of it is that I really don't care how or why things have ended up the way they are with it and I'd just like to leave it at "yes it is this because I think that's hot". Also the side-botched lizard is an example. They have three distinct morphs of males and two of females. They each have their own weird niches in the reproduction. One of the male morphs for example is hyper aggressive and has the highest levels of testosterone in the species.
I'd say "has anyone done trolls as equivalent to parasitic wasps on the Mother Grub species rather than any genetic engineering being involved" but this is the Homestuck fandom we're talking about, they live for weird xenobiology, someone definitely has.
...I just don't understand you sometimes. Did you by any chance mean side-blotched lizards, not side-botched? See I think a genetic engineering theory makes it more interesting because it implies this is something the Condesce specifically set out to make a reality. She was trying to remove the complicated mess of individual reproduction from her species, make it all streamlined, centralized and controllable from her perspective. So even though she's done things I would find personally wonderful (hell yeah reproduction with any sex and not having to carry babies internally at all) she's done it with the purpose of tightening her power and control. At the same time I'm sure it improved the vitality of the trolls as a species and made it very LGBT friendly. I think that's an interesting moral comflict from a human perspective. A lot of the way I view the Condesce is like that actually.
Side-blotched yes. Typos. Also I find Condy boring so. Eh. Yes, yes you are the fabulous and brutal empress I am going back to my Dolorosa and Handmaid and Mindfang now yes. Mmmm. Pirate. And of course parasitic wasps are cute. Most animals are. ALL ANIMALS ARE. EVEN ONES THAT BURST HORRIFICALLY FROM THE CORPSES OF OTHER ANIMALS.
I've used the idea that all the ambulatory trolls are variants of male and the Mother Grub is the female, gametically speaking.
Geez, someone set up a QUILTBAG headcanons blog for Redwall and made about five entries from themselves and one other person and I want to send in hundreds.
So I watched the entirety of Yuri On Ice yesterday and everyone's all aboard the trans Yuuri train but all I want is trans Victor?
ALSO WHILE WE'RE ON YUURI ON ICE trans boy Yurio headcanons rub me the wrong way. A lot of his performances and costumes are very... feminine, I wanna say, but they're actually kind of androgynous? But it seems to me like people saw a bit of gender non-conformity in a guy and went "Oh yes it's obviously because he has a vagina." Idk, could just be me.
I headcanon Papyrus from Undertale as nonbinary, he uses masculine pronouns because he wanted to match his older brother. This is actually supported by the sign on his door, which says "NO GIRLS ALLOWED. NO BOYS ALLOWED. PAPYRUS ALLOWED." Incidentally that also means that a binary-gendered Frisk would not be allowed in Papyrus's room. Same with a binary-gendered narra!Chara. (Chara being nonbinary is also supported by the fact that they are consistently referred to by neutral pronouns by everyone who ever talks about them in canon, including themself and their brother.)
