Valiska grins at Venture. "We forget it, too. We went to university with Tainell. We're important because we helped put Tainell on the throne." She shrugs. "I don't know, it sounded like an implicit threat to me? Plus, I wouldn't approve of a world-eater cult. I was born into a death cult and escaped when I was ten, which probably colours a lot of my thinking."

 

Valiska sighs. "I meant that I could order Ford to leave you be. But I won't. Although you think of us as matesprits, he's actually married to me by one of our culture's oldest and probably most regressive rites and oaths, in which he swore himself entirely to me and dissolved all previous conflicting ties, placing himself under my authority for the rest of his life. I didn't ask him to do it, he volunteered. And it did solve a lot of our problems. But he knows that he gave me the power to use for our mutual good. And I only use it when I'm certain he is being self-destructive. Fortunately--or possibly not...I am not entirely certain of that."

 

"That's good, because I wouldn't flirt with you if I were." Ford grins back at her. "But as it's my nature to wrestle with things like fate and death, it's probably inevitable that we would go pitch for each other."

 

Aren't Alternian conversations supposed to be like 85% implicit threats anyway? [He shrugs.] You'd have to talk to Nichrome or someone for details about actual worship and slag but I'm pretty sure I've heard people telling the bitlets horror stories about Unicron's "glorious victories". [His wingtips flick to emphasize the sarcasm.]

...wait scrap have you even seen the sparklings yet? At least one robot universe got timeshifted related to this place, we've got actual population growth now and sweet Primus they are the cutest things-! [Venture's eyes glow brighter, and his smile is genuinely excited now.]

 

Misunderstood then. Whoops. And if you want to it's not like I can stop you. Can't do a lot of things. Can listen to this conversation again though. Maybe. Depends.
