anyone else doing the bullet journal thing?

was stressed out today, so I worked on my 3rd week of january spread

drew my boy, messed around with the zebra midlighters some more

I ordered Stuffs From China for this!! Meanwhile I will use the rest of the 2016 planner to start organizing/planning/ coming up with what to put in the journal. Am thinking about meds, study stuff, weekly chores and meal plans? Maybe?

 

i started doing this with the new year, nothing fancy or pretty but i've been liking it nonetheless! maybe at some point i'll actually do something artsy, but not right now.

 

@whyguy I really like stabilo pens, but it's because they bleed. One of my favorite things to do is make a doodle and come back with a brush / water pen* later on and re-work it as a quasi-watercolor thing. The ink is really nicely saturated (the dark pink for instance is really pretty when you open it up with water) and I've had mine for at least 3 incarnations of my microns, which I keep replacing because they dry out/get used up so fast**

**I also have an unfortunate habit of drawing over things that are gooey or flake off onto the pen, so that might have something to do with it too

 

that moment when you realize you're going Too Far but don't want to stop yourself: when you want to do your monthly spreads in homestuck blood colors but you'd really prefer to have a tombow for some nice brush lettering and you spend an hour before you fall asleep rigorously trying to match the hemospectrum to the colors they have available

plus, y'know, an additional 8 for the human kids. that's 20. that's the max i'm willing to go, because i can get 20 individual tombows of whatever colors i want on jetpens.com for $52.

will probably post again with findings in case anyone's interested. please no one be interested. i don't want to encourage people to fall down this rabbit hole with me orz

i've been meaning to try this out for a while now!!! i keep a general journal for story ideas/dreams/random doodles when i'm listening to podcasts (i need to doodle to be able to sit & listen to something for that long otherwise i tune out) but it's mostly just stream-of-consciousness, not very useful or helpful, i think a bullet journal system might be better for me.

also here's a video i found a while ago about how bullet journals are a really good organization method for people with ADHD brains

oh my god I didn't really know what tombows were so I looked it up and the dual brush pens
I cry

 

a monthly spread could be anything like boxes for each day (like how a traditional monthly calendar looks) or a list on one page for dates of the month, list on the facing page for holidays etc. it's helpful for an overview. i also do the same things for year overview and week overview now. just helps me micromanage a little better and keep track of where my time actually goes.

honestly anyone here can check out my pinterest board for bullet journaling. just remember that it doesn't have to look this pretty.

i would also like black. blender pen is optional. that's one of the things i Just Don't Care About unless i'm doing something Actively Shippy in which case Do Not Sully The Tombows honestly. that's 22 pens for the low low price of $55.40 i think? not too bad. $2.60 a pop from jetpens.com

hm. maybe green ochre would be better for captors... idk. i really don't know. that one was difficult. i also debated avocado for nitrams.

 

Did a lil goal spread thing! Think I'll try to do one of these spreads once a month.

 

Also, @pixels, I'd say Deep Ochre for Captors, yeah. And Ultramarine might be better for John?

 

Idk about the deep ochre, it gets into the lowblood trolls problem of everyone being really muddy colors vs the more distinct mid- to highbloods. I think chartreuse is a p good compromise. kind of tempted to recommend rhodamine red for pisces, the deep magenta is a wonderful complement to the others but why pass up the chance for eye-searing fuchsia, imo
