Sloane frowns. "But....The Dark Lord is alive. He controls most of Europe, actually. And I've never heard of Harry Potter."

Sloane hesitates. "....it's not so bad, I guess," she replies after a minute, unconsciously crossing her arms. Everything in her is screaming that not immediately informing Norm that 'The Dark Lord is wise and merciful and life under him is great' is dangerous, but surely what she's saying here can't possibly get back to her world. And she hates those lines anyway. Life under The Dark Lord sucks.

 

*sighs* ... well, I guess, if you don't have anything else to compare to it too, you're right, it's not so bad.

 

"Essentially." Sloane sighs, and then adds bleakly, "Besides, it's not like there's much to be done about it. So....we just have to live with it. You know. Forever."

 

*sighs* Yeah.

"Yup, and I'll probably be pushed into a heterosexual marriage with a guy I don't like who's probably my first cousin because hey, there's only so many purebloods, Sloane, suck it up, and besides, gotta keep in the family, aaaaaaaand then we'll have 2.5 children and fight until the day we die!" Sloane smiles bitterly. "Whoo." She sighs. "....sorry." She shakes her head.

 

It sounds like it's quite difficult to be a witch in your world. I wish I could take you to the witch world of my own universe.

 

Sloane nods. "Kinda. Expectations and families and all that jazz. ....apparently it didn't used to be so....pureblood-focused, before The Dark Lord took over. So, y'know, people could do what they wanted. I mean, sure, if your family was more of the stuck-up ones, they'd probably never talk to you again, but at least you had a choice. Now it's just....do what you're supposed to. And what you're supposed to do is make more children to carry on the line!" She sighs. "....but hey, what's your witch world like?"

 

(What would be more amusing, mock-shushing them, or saying that every little bit helps? Oooh.)

I myself live in the Sea Kingdom, but I have been to the witch world with my friend Chlomaki, the Pitch Black Witch, once before. The Witch world is a strange place. The full moon never disappears, and it reflects an orange glow over the realm. I've never seen a single boy there, though there are witches everywhere, mixing cauldrons and zipping around on broomsticks in the sky. The Great Witch that oversees the world may seem like a very cold person, but she is quite wise. I've never seen her crow familiar talk or transform.

(Suddenly three more huskies and a huskie lusus appear from behind Oneira's bar counter, seriously, how did they fit in there and how did Oneira not stumble across them, and go sniffspect Dogmeat.)

Sloane sighs. "Yeah, I guess. ....You were trapped for fifty thousand years? Geez. Suddenly I'm glad I have a finite lifespan."

"Basically: when you're attracted to the opposite gender and only the opposite gender. Y'know. Boys who like only girls are hetero, and vice versa. But where I'm from it's pretty much the only acceptable way of being." Sloane sighed.
