*jumps back startled but then is overencombered with happiness and jumps around*

... I-is the amethyst g-gone? U-um.
I-i would have liked t-to, y'know... t-talk to the P-p-pink pearl though...

*sighs* Yeah. But I'm free now, so... you don't need to worry about me. I'm alright.

 

*flips the bird at him*

 

"Uh-huh. I'm sure that fifty thousand years of imprisonment totally doesn't leave you with issues with a capital I. But that's not my business. So how'd you get trapped for fifty thousand years anyway? And where?" Sloane squints at him. "....and what exactly are you that you're apparently immortal?"

 

I'm a genie. Was trapped in a lava lamp, and I had to grant everyone that rubbed it three wishes.

*sighs* And yeah, I have Issues With a Capital I, but they feel... small... compared to whatever Capital I Issues you must have, living in Voldemort's Europe, you know... 'Cause I'm out and you're not.

 

Sloane shrugged. "Eh, I'm out right now, aren't I? That's gotta count for something. Plus, you totally can't have issues with a capital I if you just blatantly ignore all the issues forever! ....and I feel like at this point, shit that happens there is just so commonplace I'm numb to it. Can't have an issue over what you can't process, am I right?" She flashed Norm a grin that was only slightly forced. "So anyway--genie, huh? And a lava lamp. Seems....a little unconventional for what I know of genies, but okay. Honestly sounds like a sucky situation, though. How'd you get out of it?"

 

Yeah, I guess you're right.

*sighs* ... well, Weirdmaggedon happened and I joined up with Bill Cipher, the evil guy behind it, 'cause Julissa gave me my freedom. I did something for Bill and he trapped me back in my lamp and I realized that he was actually the bad guy and that my freedom didn't matter to him. Yeah.

But the Pines came and got my lamp and brung it to Pennarion with them, and once they were sure that I wasn't evil and that I regretted teaming up with Bill, they set me free.

 

Sloane blinked. "....there was a lot in there that I did not understand. Like....Bill Cipher? Weirdmaggedon? Julissa? Pines? Pennarion? What." She shook her head. "But hey, at least it got you your freedom, whatever it was."

 

Bill Cipher's an evil triangle that wants to throw a chaotic party across the entire multiverse. Weirdmaggedon's that party and it made the whole structure of the universe break down. Dimensions mixed, physics broke all its own laws, time was destroyed...

Julissa's one of Bill's followers.

The Pines, well, they're a family and they're awesome and if you stay here long enough, you're sure to meet them.

Pennarion's the planet Valiska Pines came from, and that the entire Pines family now lives on.

*sighs* Yeah. But I wish I'd managed to get it without ever joining Bill.

 

"A.....evil triangle. Okay then. Chaotic party I'm more familiar with. The dimensions mixing and physics breaking, less so....time altering I have some....slight experience with. Not so much time destroying. As for the rest, cool, can't wait to meet them, I'm sure." Sloane sighed. "And yeah, I'm sure we all have things we regret. I wish I hadn't done a lot of things I did. But I think the important thing is that you aren't that person now, you know? ....or at least, I hope that's the important thing."

 

*sighs* Yeah. I guess you're right. But still... I think about how I got free and well, it's not how I would've liked it to have happened, you know... I'd have liked to have managed it myself, without being an asshole and without having to rely on anyone's forgiveness.

 

Sloane shrugs. "Yeah, I can't really say I relate completely--it's not like I got my freedom by aligning with an evil dude. But....let's just say there's a lot of stuff I did that classifies me firmly in the asshole department, and there's a lot of things I'd like to have managed myself, and things I would have liked to have happen without needing people's forgiveness first. Such is life. We make mistakes. Things don't always happen how we'd like them to have happened when we look back. You gotta learn to live with it." She sighs. "That said, you ever wanna talk about regrets and whatnot, I am always available to relive past mistakes, both mine and others'! Though I cannot promise I am the most sympathetic person. Sorry. Not exactly my thing."

 

It's okay. *laughs* Honestly, I feel lucky to be getting anyone's sympathy at all, sometimes.

 

"Boy oh boy, do I feel that," Sloane says wryly. "You ever get that feeling when people are sympathetic or nice towards you? You know, the 'I am not a good person and I'm probably going to make you horrible by association' feeling?"

 

*sighs* Yeah. The first part, at least.

 

"Such fun." Sloane sighed. "Sometimes I still don't know how Alex puts up with me. She's....too good for me." Sloane paused and then hurriedly added, "As a friend. Too good as a friend, I mean."
