I'm pretty sure it doesn't recoil if it doesn't connect.

Beldum does share its catch rate with a lot of legendaries, but at least legendaries usually wait until they're out of moves to start injuring themselves.

So... I just checked on my Pokemon Bank and all my banked Pokemon got deleted when my pass expired, does anyone know if there's any chance of getting them back? I doubt it, but I'd nearly finished my living Pokedex. Never mind, they were in my PC in X for some reason.

 

Maybe use a silvally set to ghost! I think that's what I did.

 

Also: apparently takedown does no recoil damage if it's used to break a substitute, so as a last resort you can teach your catcher substitute and break it out after beldum grinds down its own health. Then dusk ball! Or level ball.

 

would a mimikyuu's Disguise count as Substitute? you could get two of them and swap back and forth

 

It's worth trying. Beldum aren't that hard to find, thank god.

i don't have a catcher pokemon yet 'cause ive just been caching and leveling to try and complete the pokedex as i go along, but i'm probably gonna build myself a smeargle for postgame shenanigans

SHINY STUFFUL SEARCH IS FINALLY OVER. I got lucky, 550 stuffuls into the current chain, ~950 total, and it has fluffy and is hardy. Adamant would've been ideal, but a neutral nature is still pretty fucking good for in-game purposes. Shame her IVs are kinda shit. Max on everything but HP and atk :(

Yeah, getting a good nature and IVs is why I prefer the masuda method to chaining for shinies. That and you can take breaks any time.

Congrats on the shiny, I'm still 3 Pokemon away from getting the shiny charm.

Also I had insane luck with catching on this cartridge, Beldum and the Tapu went well, the only Pokemon that gave me any sort of trouble (and it gave me a lot of trouble) was Necrozma.
