-Lacuna shrinks down to about half of human-size and examines @Twinkerbell -

Paz pets the mi. She signals to Lacuna.

"Can you make it so that I don't hear that noise? I have..." She thinks for a moment. "I know it sounds dumb, but my guardian calls it PTSD. I was able to deal with it when it was happening all the time, but after I didn't hear it for weeks, it started to freak me out really bad. I should be able to decide not to hear it, but the problem is that I can't think when I hear it. Once I ran out of a store and Wendy got in so much trouble because everyone thought it was her that upset me."

She glances in Norm's direction. "Please don't beat up the pixie any more."

 

-Lacuna thinks.-

...I don't... think I can cut out specific sounds. Specific frequency ranges might be possible. But... this is the Rave. You can try to make that change yourself.

-She drops the bubble.-

 

"...how would I do that? Any ideas? And, I'm sorry I called the pixie 'it', that's where Norm got it, that's what they say in the Falls, where pixies bite you in the woods, but...I guess it's wrong."

There are so, so many things that she's never questioned that have turned out to be wrong.

 

-Lacuna shrugs.-

Maybe it'd work if we combine rave tweaks.

 

*Shrug.*

Mi, decide can´t hear bad sound anymore. Mi does with the bad sounds. Bad sounds are mean.

"Oh," says Paz. "You can decide I can't hear the noise, and I can decide to let you do that to me, because I don't want to hear it! Yes, please!"

She sighs with relief. "Do your thing! Thanks!"

 

Mi, done. But you can to, when mi is not here. Just decide when here.

 

Anyway. Apart from that altercation is there anything else that needs to be brought to my attention?

 

*He shrugs again and sits down cross-legged with his back to Lacuna.*

 

-Lacuna shutters her optics and concentrates on the wings becoming whole, smooth, and healthy.-

 

"Okay," says Paz, "I'm deciding it's permanent." She pets the mi. "Thanks! You're so cute."

 

*He gives them a few test flutters, and then shoots straight up in the air.*

*Furious jingling in the vague direction of where @Smol Norm the Genie ran off to.*

 

Yeah, he was being a horrid brat. It seems like Paz can't hear your bells anymore, so feel free to talk!

 

"I'm sorry," says Paz. "I'd only just explained to him about the bell thing because we were talking about ways that people can make you do things that you don't want to do. Which is what the bell sound was used for, before I...escaped?" She's never let herself think about it that way, before.

 

...I don't really understand it, but I know people can be pretty clever about being controlling. Are you okay?

 

...it looks like that could've been a pretty dangerous misunderstanding
that kind of pixie seems...kinda fragile

 

"I think so." Paz sighs. "I need therapy, but...that's going to have to happen at home. I guess." She smiles. "It was pretty awful. Also I'm really glad that Cinnamon didn't figure out what was doing it?" She leans against the thylacine. "She's a pretty big animal, and he's a pretty small pixie."
