Ooooh, I like it! You gave him a really distinctive silhouette. Usually Taako's portrayed as very thin, but with those shoulders he reminds me of another tricksy, gender non-conforming magician: Hisoka from HunterxHunter. The cropped jacket really flatters his figure, but I think I like the color blocking in that very first outfit the best. The gloves are an interesting touch, too. They reflect the way he's emotionally "hands-off" (and a thief :P)

Ah thank You and Hm interesting!

I think when making this Taako i was looking at qualities I liked in a lot of Taako-s?

Tbh i could just make different Taako-s too but i was a bit attached to this one when drawing a lotta them.

And ah, I wanted to go somewhere a bit fun with the shapes! A few rises and falls here, mostly at his upper body.

Basically, I like trans headcanons, but dislike it when it seems to fall into the lines of gender roles. Like how for a whole the only Powerpuff Girl I saw being headcanoned as a trans boy was Buttercup. Bubbles is just as likely to be trans, people. Or Blossom, but Bubbles is probably the most feminine and Buttercup the least feminine so that's why that was my example, because personality doesn't make you trans.

Like it's not like there aren't masculine trans boys or feminine trans girls or vice versa. What I object to isn't the headcanon itself but the... overall trend of that being the most popular headcanon?? Shrug.

I'm just amused how it shows that 'abusive' is the go-to descriptor of any negative character interaction, no matter what the relationship between the characters is like. See also how Reylo got described as 'abusive' when it's more like 'they're mortal enemies'.

Has any interesting fic involving Taako and Sazed emerged in this unfavorable environment?

    (also hi thread)

basically the Only Acceptable Way to interpret taako and his ex-employee's relationship— that at the moment we know very little about— is that saazed was domestically abusing taako. to point out that we know very little about what was actually going on is ignoring or minimizing abuse. to point out that taako is frankly an asshole and the one bit of dialogue we got between them involved taako being his usual dismissive and manipulative self is to like, blame the victim or something? saazed is super evil and probably raped taako to death every night. all abusers are evil, all abusers do every evil thing, and good people like taako can't possibly be bad people like abusers. there's this really juvenile, performative anger at him and at anyone who draws him.

(also in the sazed tag is mostly people graphically posting how they'd like to kill and beat this guy, and the same people posting about how dare anyone post their disgusting abuse ships publicly, don't they know thy could traumatize a survivor? because, you know, it's worse for abuse survivors seeing a fictional dude who could be abusive in a tag that's his name, than seeing real people wanking about violence and murder fantasies and threatening to hurt anyone who doesn't also want to do it too.)

yeah! 'abusive' is now the word for 'bad guy' and bad guys are always bad in every way. there can't possibly be narrative elements like betrayal or antagonism or being enemies or petty rivalry or sabotage, it's gotta be one long and consistent blur of rape-punching. that is definitely how real life works so it's how stories should work too!!

I really don't get why anyone would jump to the conclusion that Sazed was hurting Taako on the regular, like. He's Taako. He's a vicious little shit! He doesn't fucking put up with shit he doesn't want to!

It's like that to a lesser extent with Merle and Hecuba, too. There's a weird amount of "Hecuba must have been abusive!!" and it's. Merle could also just not have liked her or the life he was living.

yeah! i mean taako's general demeanor is of a guy who's really determined to be the guy doing the punching, not the guy getting punched, and the guy doing the dumping, not getting dumped. i think what justin's said of his backstory is really appropriate to taako's whole attitude and how he relates to other characters, it totally fits. and domestic abuse could be part of that? no one is too tough or cool or whatever to have been abused. but like, abuse, especially physical abuse in the context of a romantic relationship, just isn't necessarily part of a tragic backstory.

i mean, just growing up being on the move a lot, and switching social groups a lot, can make you really standoffish and emotionally defensive, no rape necessary.

and also like we've only ever been told sazed was an employee, i think? they weren't even cooking partners, it's already an assumption that they were romantic partners. just because taako's gay doesn't mean he was jumping on the dick of any dude at all.
