You do need to be whitelisted, yes. We seem to have something causing lag, I am starting to suspect Flaxbeard's Steam Power. For now, sleeping.

So I finally bought myself an account and the vanilla game seems to be working okay on my computer. I've never played multiplayer or modded, but y'all make it sound so cool I'd like to try playing with you. My profile name is edgewitch.
So I was looking at a list of the things that were taking time, and one of the largest consumers of time was the 1,196 steam heaters. ... There aren't that many steam heaters. Not even close. But somehow the entity list seems to multiply. Also, even if we purge unused chunks, the random villages that include steam heaters get reloaded immediately, even if no one is there. Which is Very Odd.
Apparently the apiaries I made are for harvestcraft, not for forestry. 8| They WILL BE USED. But to make forestry apiaries, I need to... 1) Go mine some copper, tin, gold, redstone, iron. Smelt them. 2) Mash the copper and tin into bronze. 3) Make 2 sturdy casings out of bronze. 4) Make a carpenter out of sturdy casing, glass, and more bronze. 5) Make wooden gear out of sticks. 6) Make stone gear out of wooden gear and rock. 7) Make copper gear out of copper and stone gear. 8) Make piston out of wood, rock, redstone, iron. 9) Make clock out of gold and redstone. 10) Make clockwork engine out of copper gear, piston, clock, wood, glass. 11) Hook engine and carpenter together. 12) Make a squeezer out of sturdy casing, tin, glass. 13) Hook that to the engine too. 14) Make at least 250Mb seed oil in the squeezer, by squeezing seeds. Might need to make at least 1000Mb to extract it. 15) Make impregnated casing out of wood and seed oil, in the carpenter. 16) Make apiary out of impregnated casing, wood. 17) Place bee princess, bee drone, in apiary. 18) Make frames out of sticks, string, to improve performance. So... time to build some stuff. This might take a few days.
@albedo i am working on making a largish farm patch dedicated to wheat and while i probably will not have a surplus of seeds for a little bit yet, if you need some for the seed oil feel free to swing by and grab some wheat for them. (if other seeds work for getting seed oil, i have a shitton of carrots and melon and stuff i'm not using. the extra is in barrels by my train station, so help yourself.)
You can move oil from the squeezer to the carpenter using conduits or ducts or whatever. I have a lot of the stuff for this already, if you want it.
ok i have surplus wheat again yay scratch what i said before about not having extra for seeds for a while (i forgot that since other people are logged in, the chunk my base is on will stay loaded so my crops all grew overnight :3)
@Astrodynamicist Thanks! I might have to take you up on that; my farm's not very big yet. Since I'm a masochist and building underground, so it's like fifteen blocks of digging for one block of dirt. @seebs Aha! That might be easier; thanks! The part I'm finding long and a little bothersome is the 'look up on wiki how to do things' part, because it's a bit counterintuitive. But I think I have a good flowchart set up for me to play with tonight...

I'm likely to add another tech mod, Immersive Engineering, tonight because it sounds really fun. Shouldn't make things much worse, no new oregen. I have an infusion altar with a couple hundred candles, which should be pretty stable, and I'll be adding more to it later just to be totally sure.
I found that tunnel last night! It looks super cool! And the village at the end is absolutely gorgeous.
I got on the server successfully but it froze up and displayed a still image for about 30 seconds. It loaded fully just as I quit Minecraft. Going to try again later. If it doesn't work I may have to try installing the launcher on our shared desktop, which is much better at running games than my laptop.
