french fries in chocolate milkshake are kind of like a hot-and-cold version of chocolate coated pretzels

@chaoticArbiter i added the wordchips in case we had any brits in the thread ^^ (chips are their fries)

speaking of odd things (and brits), i heard there's a sandwich called a chip butty (maybe idk its been a while) with buttered white bread, filled with 'chips' or french fries. their fries tend to be thicker cut, btw, since when i think of a fry sandwich i think of something resembling a haypile. which would be messy to eat, i imagine.

does anyone know how common those are? they sound very dry to me. even with the butter.

and going back to mayo (I'm a little obsessed) apparently its common outside of America (or maybe just in some european countries) to dip your fries in mayo. straight up mayo.

not one of my first choices. i prefer mine plain unless there is malt vinegar available

I've heard of chip butties (and bacon butties) but am not from the area and don't know how prevalent/widespread they are.

I like home fries on toast (for me, home fries = cubes of cooked potato made tasty by pan-frying with seasonings until a nice crust has formed). It can be pretty dry, though, so I usually have other stuff with it, like an egg or something.

I went to a fancy restaurant a few years ago now where they served duck-fat french fries with mayo as a dip, so it's not just an outside-the-US thing.

French fries + milkshake are heaven. I learned that on the bus to summer camp when we stopped at McDonald's and it's been my go-to on the road food ever since. My stomach gets vaguely upset in road trips and it's v soothing and delicious

Re dipping fries in mayo, I like doing a 3 parts ketchup 1 part mayo mixture for fries. Adds a nice creaminess to it. Mixture is especially good for burgers too, tho I usually go even on mayo and ketchup for burgers
    Fuck I wanna burger now

Yup. Fries + Mayo is pretty much the standard in The Netherlands (where I am from), Belgium and at least Germany. I couldn't say for other countries, but I'd imagine it to be very common.

I've never had a chip-butty, but I've been to England a handful of times and have had bacon-butties, and can confirm they are delicious :D

pro tip if you add another flavor to Mayo, like garlic or chili or lemon, it magically becomes aioli which is fancy and tastes very good on almost anything depending on the flavor

I FUCKING LOVE CHIP SANGAS. White bread, butter, chips (good thick cut ones), and tomato sauce. Thick cut chips are moist on the inside so it's not really dry.

I don't dislike ranch but I think I'd cry if my pizza was covered in it.

Even worse, since it was the sauce it was HOT ranch

Edit: though dipping pizza in ranch is pretty common around here, most pizzarias offer ranch along with garlic butter and marinara. I think its gross though.

You know what's terrible? Pickles. I can grudgingly admit that mayo can be acceptable in the context of deviled eggs, but pickles ruin everything they touch. Fight me.
