I don't usually particularly care about Frozen, but Elsa/Anna is. No. Not because of any incest-squick reasons, it's just that it misses the whole point of the movie.
and then there's elsa and jack frost which is just such a weird ship esp since jack is a child god who will remain the same forever and elsa is supposed to be like.........twenty?? and a Mature Queen, or at least one that's supposed to be maturing
holy shit, megop. it's simultaneously an otp AND a notp of mine. i love their canon dynamic, it's heartbreaking and complex and a flaming dumpster with so much potential for fun stuff - and then aside from a few fics i've already read multiple times, basically nobody does anything with that potential. it's either the sweet romantic cliches that shove everything that's not so savory abt them under the carpet, or the eeeeeevul Decepticon warlord showing up to spirit weak!woobie!optimus away to his flying love nest the nemesis (or other continuity specific love nests...) and like, i kinda get why there's so many fic about those two rough plots, bc god knows i've written a few of them myself and it can be fun, but... a few years ago, when tfp was first airing, there was this Thing among the fandom that Orion Pax and Megatron hooked up in the gap between s1 and s2. And out of a dozen or so fics I read with that exact central idea, not a single one actually addressed the major consent issues. up until i got pissed off and started writing a fic that pointed out that it was at the very least dub-con. (and then in response, i had megop shippers vagueing at me, saying i was just 'ship-bashing to make my own ship look better', 'warning' other people about me... jesus h christ.) happily, i haven't had any of those around lately. we will see what happens when i finally update the fic that poked the hornet's nest, but yeah. bad experiences with megop - which sucks, because it was my first TF otp. and now i can't seem to divorce it from the association with a bunch of gigantic gaping assholes :/
Nailed it: I do suspect that if anyone would've dosed Tonks, it would've been Mrs Weasley. See - Molly likes playing matchmaker, is the thing. (Remember that she got very ticked-off at Hermione, when she thought that Hermione was leading on Harry and any number of other boys; she's the leading in-canon cheerleader for Harry/Ginny.) And Tonks is the primary inheritor to the Black estate if anything happens to Sirius (and Molly is damn sure that something's going to happen, Sirius is quite openly trying to self-destruct). Getting Draco out of the running isn't as much of an issue to her - he's a Malfoy, she's pretty sure his family's going to be in serious shit when all's said and done, and she can rely on Harry to fight Draco for anything out of pure spite. But he likes Tonks, and he's unlikely to fight Tonks for her inheritance. But Molly wants him to want to fight for it - she wants to pair Ginny up with him, because then her grandkids get a claim to the Potter fortune and name and a claim to the Black fortunes. So Tonks has to be made ineligible to inherit as far as the wizarding world's concerned. How better to do that than to pair her up with the werewolf? And Lupin's easy enough to push around - get Tonks on his trail, make sure there's people noticing Tonks' interest and encouraging him to return it, and he'll go along with things rather than try to cause a fuss by fighting. Once Tonks is safely married off and pregnant, Molly might well have started easing off on the dosage - Tonks was acting extremely erratic during that time period, certainly.
I'm personally a fan of "both Lupin and Tonks are massive queers like they were coded, and have a marriage of convenience".
I prefer to think they were both lonely and afraid they would die alone and unloved and so desperate for affection that they mistook their friendship for romantic love, instead of thinking that someone made them drink a goddamn rape potion
God the fucking dom!Cullen stuff always catched me by the blindside, because I'm so used to Bull/Cullen and Dorian/Cullen stuff letting him be a sub or switch that when it's all "I have... peculiar interests *sticks a sex dungeon in his rotting tower*" I forget that this is supposed to be Cullen???? And I just... don't get the appeal of Fenris/Anders. Or rather, I do get the appeal, and I can tolerate it with disinterest if it's black, but redrom Fenders? No. Nope. Nuh-uh. Get it out of here.
I haven't even played Inquisition but my otp for it is Anders/Cullen and there is One (1) good fic for it. Suffering.
I mean, that's my general headcanon for Tonks but Lupin very clearly knows he's not in love with Tonks. he's just....pressured into it.
both roseroxy and dirkdave have nothing interesting from either roxy or dirk's perspective because with rose and dave, these are the alternate universe emotionally accessible versions of their neglectful/downright abusive guardians and theres something interesting there even if incest is definitely not my thing but roxy and dirk? never met their guardians, dont appear to hold any feelings towards them other than 'was cool and related to me', and just. for the ship to work its gotta be completely focused on dave or rose's feelings and ignore dirk or roxy's
Well, you could include that in the ship. Dave/Rose has an unhealthy sexual obsession with the clone of their abusive guardian, Dirk/Roxy feels guilty about Bro/Mom's actions and goes along with it, shit gets real fucked up... not quite my cup of tea, but I could see the appeal.
mm yeah i could see that working!! but ive never seen anything that DOES go into dirk or roxy's feelings on the matter granted this is selection bias bc i dont like lalondcest or stridercest and dont go out of my way to look at it but everything ive seen tends to be dave/rose centric
this just sounds weird considering how Wholesome the "my m..........roxy, my roxy" is. and dirk and dave's gentle bro hug. then again i'm just not into fucked up ships outside of kink fics so
pretty much the only way theyre going to be hooking up is if something goes terribly, terribly wrong adorable fluffy incest is essentially impossible in a realistic human ship setting
....somehow I missed this, but this could be really interesting to think about, because the thing is, Tonks pretty clearly throws herself into wanting Lupin and her marriage and all, so I don't think she would've known at the time that she was queer....but what if she was just doing it because she thought she should love him, but didn't really, but didn't want to seem weird or spend her life alone? of course, exploring her realizing she was queer while they were married would require her BEING ALIVE (glares at JK), but I mean.....you can do whatever you want in fic, right? that's pretty much the rule?
Yeah, I don't think it would be quite in character if everything else was the same as canon. And more or less same. When I go for stridercest I mostly like the unrealistic ooc fluffy davebro/davedirk fics orz (but only when there's some kind of explanation for the weirdness, like everyone being trolls. There was this one "everyone ends up on a new planet after the game and are also troll hybrids" fic from a few years ago where Dave and Bro had sudden moirail feels for each other and were Uncomfortable, it was great)
