oh, well, ok, thought things had gone all historical-novel for a sec but yakuza i'm familiar with. didn't want to assume.

 

Okay, real quick rundown.

a) Not everything Japanese is anime. Japan is an actual country with an actual history and an actual complex society, and anime is just a form of animated media originating in Japan.
b) On that same note, anime isn't a genre. It's a medium. It's cartoons. Cartoons aren't a genre, it's a medium that includes genres.
c) Greasers were a subculture in the USA in the 1950s. While they showed a blatant disregard for mainstream societal norms and were often from low-income high-crime areas, the conception that they were all criminals is inaccurate and kinda pretty shitty. Yakuza is literally an organized crime syndicate originating from Japan. Even if you used anime where you meant Japanese, Yakuza are in no way 'Japanese greasers'. Japanese greasers are greasers.
