Honey can be squirted directly on food though. Even before I was GF I always thought it was kind of rude to spread jam or honey over pb with a knife, it gets pb in the jar and I don't want pb on my toast.
Watching my dad make pbj is an experience I wish on no one. Since it bugs me just to watch, I've figured out that, in order to avoid contaminating the pb, jelly, or honey, I have to commit. Use a fresh knife for each topping, and only stick the knife in once; grab a huge glob the first time, and then spread it to my satisfaction. Sometimes this results in drippy sandwiches. Use this strategy with caution.
My method was always to use a spoon to fetch the jelly. You can spread it with the pb knife when you're done spreading the pb
I wash the knife in between. My husband is very picky about food mingling. ETA: we only have 6 butter knives so they go quick if I use a new one.

DX a honey ham as in like, an entire ham that you slice thick is okay, but- *makes finger cross at honey lunchmeat* LUNCHMEAT SHOULDNT BE SWEET
I am of the personal opinion that unless it is dessert or breakfast, it shouldn't be sweet. a tiny little blip of sweetness is the most I can accept in lunch or dinner. beyond that, no. sweet foods for lunch or dinner are no.
@chaoticArbiter How sweet is sweet? Or maybe that's better phrased as "what kind of sweet?" Because things like fruits and carrots are sweet to me, but also there's a difference between the sweetnessss of an apple and a cookie and honey ham. (I am a sweets fiend, sweets All The Time for me... XD)
Meat shouldn't be sweet, period. The only exception is chicken tenders which are good with raspberry salsa. Sweet barbecue sauce is disgusting. Another thing that is disgusting is salted caramel. WHY.
I find that sweet barbecue sauce is okay because it's not the meat that's sweet? It's the sauce, which makes it okay in my brain for some reason. (Brains continue to be weird!) Different topic: I make both Americans and Britons upset by putting milk in my iced tea. It's good. It's not much different than an iced coffee with milk, but you get some looks. I did this before I knew what milk tea was, too. XD
my roommate has powdered lipton ice tea which is like three separate levels of tea blasphemy but damn im weak to cheap cold tea. satisfies my need for cold flavor drink without being toooo bad for me also super low on spoons. even bagged tea is too many steps for me sometimes, let alone loose leaf
for christmas parties my sister will make bacon-wrapped lil smokies slow-cooked in brown sugar stuff and ohhh my godddddd it is heavenly
I love the meat meeting the sweet. Mmmmmmmmm. There are some really good flavor combos out there, like pork and apples or maple or pineapple. Or things that have sweetness as a part of their flavor profile, along with maybe salty/sour or whatever.
I love a nice sweet/savory/spicy combo, it's divine. like szechuan ginger beef with its dark sugary hot chile glaze. sweet/savory on its own can be good if it packs enough of a punch, but too much sweet on an average savory taste just ruins both parts, imo. I would still eat it, obviously, because I'm way less picky with sweet things than savory ones, but it just wouldn't be the same. gimme that sharp cheddar on apple pie, for example. or a tangy cranberry sauce with dark turkey meat. or some nice hot-smoked candied salmon. also I can't comprehend putting honey on non-ham lunchmeats, it's downright unsettling. (when I got chicken nuggets as a kid I put the honey on the fries and the ketchup on the nuggets. it just worked better that way)
frozen iced tea mix seems to lack some of the 'dusty' taste (that I personally dislike) in powdered tea mix, and it's halfway to a cold drink already, so there's that Arizona brand canned iced tea is a cheap-ass miracle, god bless it
omg i'd forgotten about honey on chicken nuggets!!!!!! I'd do that in like, elementary and middle school when they served chicken nuggets but I've never done it anywhere else, wow, lunchroom nostalgia
