I've been told things like this before, though it's usually been "I expected something squeakier?" specifically. Interesting to see that trend continues even here!

Having not a great day but this thread is making me smile anyway.

@rje, your accent is fantastic and you're fantastic.

Have no working mic and largely nonverbal lately, but dropping in to :D. My username's probably too easy to be fun though, but if anyone wants I can bring in a few of my character names for people to struggle with >:D. And if this were in a private forum I'd drop my completely fucking unpronounceable first name but it's googleable for said unpronounceability so sadface.

@swirlingflight it's really interesting how your voice switches from being a kinda monotone to being inflected on certain phrases, how some phrases feel emphasized 'cause they sound kinda different. it's hard to explain but yeah, it's a thing i noticed. :D it's sorta like how sans and flowey talk, how sans sometimes uses capital letters and spaces between the letters of words and how flowey does the facial expression changing thing with his tone - though in your case, it seems to be more for... not exactly snark, but like, that kind of mindset. and the snarky inflection sounds lighter than the kinda monotone, just... lighter.

@unknownanonymous yeah, and it's a lot stronger a monotone in this one than the two i stuck in the vent thread. i think it's a matter of, here, i was reading off the list of usernames i'd put in order, while in the other things i was more-freely talking. and irl i'm not sure if i'm as monotone, because i think i pick up and emulate the cadences of the people around me.

    Okay, update! http://vocaroo.com/i/s0arxaxdzW1Y

If I forgot anyone, let me know. @Ipuntya, if you were struggling, I couldn't tell. There's nothing wrong with the way you sound. I think it's wonderful.

@palindromordnilap, you also sound wonderful. It sorta confuses me a little to hear people with French accents talk about being embarrassed by it. Here in the good old Midwestern U.S., it's considered a highly desirable accent.

I think it's normal to have an aversion to your own voice. I eventually got over my own embarrassment through sheer exposure. If it helps any, that's what other people hear all the time when you talk, and they're not cringing. (If they are cringing, they're massive jerks and also objectively wrong about sound.)

Oh I missed your link, @Acey. Glad you mentioned it. D:

You sound pretty comfortable speaking into a microphone.

@Acey, I like your voice! So far there is not a single voice I do not like.

I'm incredibly oriented around sound, particularly language. NVLD. That's pretty much my brain's whole deal. This is the best thread.

Well, yeah, but it also makes me really dysphoric. I can go higher, though I don't know how much of a difference that makes for other people who hear it, but it requires speaking at a higher volume. :/
