things i like about ABO fic: -heat stuff (usually) -interesting social structures things i don't like about ABO: -knotting -boring mpreg fluff -boring characterization that basically turns characters into semes/ukes ...so, basically everything else
Knotting, social structure, and heat is like the only interests I have in A/B/O but sadly I'm very uninterested in the vast bulk of it. The only one I came across that I've liked was a surprisingly ok Ana/Mercy fic?
People ascribing motives to villains that the villains canonically obviously do not have. I guess this goes hand-in-hand with "[villain] did nothing wrong", like…I saw somebody claim that a particular villain only did his various horrible deeds because he loved his family so much. And, like, no, he wants to conquer the world and be revered as a god because he's a malignant narcissist. This is very clear in canon! He does not give a single fuck about his family except insofar as they can be used to advance his goals! If you like him that's fine, if you find him sympathetic that's…on you, but if you have to make up reasons out of thin air why he's so very misunderstood, maybe he's not.
i know one of my biggest fanfiction gripes is not being able to find good smut of a canon pairing that is ALSO always put to the side for other pairings (that are gay) im talking about mituna/latula. they are so cute why do people not see this...........
There's a male character with a build that's similar to mine. And in the Canon he is hella masculine and intimidating. As a trans dude it made me very :) :) to see his masculinity respected by everyone around him. ...... And in fanon there is a rash of fics about him wearing women's undies and clothing. Emphasizing how thin and short he was, how feminine his features were. Multiple instances of the line "almost like a woman." Always the omega, usually the sub. Etc ad nauseum *SCREAMS INTO THE VOID BC I UNDERSTAND WHY PEOPLE DO THIS BUT IT MAKES ME SAD*
I just wish more a/b/o like.... stuck with the werewolf thing. There's so many that drops the shifter aspect entirely but keeps the heats and social dynamics and I'm so?????
