A mechanical being like you. Some call them robots or automatons, but droid is the common Basic term. Most just think of them as tools or conveniences. They all have interesting things to say. Even the moisture vaporators.

And is it just a dreamspace? Huh.

...I wasn't built, I was sparked. Even cold-constructed people are sparked. We're our own species.

    -He grimaces.-

Really? Now that's curious. What are you then?

    A Devisen Cybertronian.

Is Devisen a place? Or a culture? Or is that whole thing together the species name?

I'm a human. A Mandalorian human to be more specific. Anything can be Mandalorian though. Even a Hutt, I'd say.

I'm from the planet Devisiun which started out as a colony of people from Cybertron.

Ahh. So your people expand then.

Mandalorians used to have more colonies back when we were an empire. Lost them pretty quickly though. It's hard to get a culture of small warring clans that keep to themselves from fighting. Hard to hold territory in that sort of state. We're now limited to the Mandalore System in the Outer Rim. Well, in terms of holding anything. We're found everywhere. A good bulk of the culture is nomadic.

What are your people like? The Devisen Cybertronians?

It doesn't really matter, does it?

It doesn't if you don't want it to. I was curious.

So why are you dressed like that? That's not your chassis, is it?

-pulls off the bucket to reveal a normal human face-

Nope! Not at all. As far as the why, it's a cultural thing. "Education and armor, self-defense, our language, our tribe, and our leader -- all help us survive," is how the rhyme for children goes. The wearing of armor, learning how to fight, and teaching children to fight is one of the tenets of Mandalorian culture. The Resol'nare or Six Actions is what they're called. Failure to adhere to them results in one being deemed dar'manda, one without a soul. Live honorably and after death you join the Manda which is a sort of communal soul? Comprised of all Mandalorians who have lived as one.

On a more practical note it keeps me from dying. I'm a bounty hunter by trade.

Well, it is a pretty dangerous universe. Mine is, at least. Yours is probably the same. And organics a bit, uh... fragile, usually, I heard? So wearing an outer shell makes a lot of sense!

Bones can break. Skin can be scrapped and torn. To say nothing of limbs being lopped off. There's some weak spots between the plates and the flight suit, and the armor won't save me from extreme temperatures. It does keep me safe from blasters, though. Lightsabers too on the rare occasions I run into them.

As far as danger goes...I've been on the run from a crimelord since before I was born. My mother was assassinated by that Hutt's men when I was four. It's a dangerous galaxy. There are those who do live in relative peace. I'm not one of them.

Yeah, but you can always just, like, replace a limb. It costs money but I've got free healthcare now!

    -laughs at that-

I could, couldn't I? Doubt Brier would be happy with it though. Food, repairs, and ship upkeep are high enough without my needing replacement limbs.

I've been remarkably successful so far. At staying non-concussed? Not so much.

Aren't concussions pretty bad if they build up? And organic brains are like... made of water, right?

They're incredibly pretty bad. I'm just horrifically durable.

As far as our brains go...not quite. It's more a mix of numerous bits and bobs that eventually form nerve tissues. There's definitely a lot of water in it, but also a deal of fat. I'm not the best when it comes to anatomy, however.
