Haha, a little like 'meaty-eyed meatballs' in Rise? I can't unhear it or recognise it as anything else these days.
I haven't listened to Rise closely enough to catch anything like that (the Creator music is less my jam than the other two sections) but that's also good.
I have been very distracted by levelling all of my crafting and gathering classes, in part because the crafting in this game is really fun, and in part because progressing the ARR main story quest can get very tedious. (Let's give our player a simple two-step plan, Get Airship then Fight Primal, and then see how much we can pad it out with diversions, sidetracks, and unhelpful people!)
I think I approached the story like a single-player RPG with multiplayer elements and I'm used to sinking 40-60 hours in to Tales games so it didn't bother me so much but...i think having someone to play through it at the same time with helped. also 2.1 thru like 2.3 is UNDENIABLY tedious as fuck, unfortunately.
I didn't find 2.1-3 nearly as tedious as I found some of the ~40ish segments honestly. though I was just saying to a friend on plurk that I realized that I remember exactly zero of Ramuh's mechanics other than there being adds in there somewhere. TBF, I think that was a trial we did when my lag was being really bad so Ramuh himself didn't load in until like a quarter of his HP was gone.
It's funny, because I remember basically no mechanics of anything unless I've run them 5+ times over the course of like a week. That means I basically go in blind to everything bar the expert dungeons, which is not ideal when you're trying to max out on poetics/lore due to the awful relic quest. Things I remember about Ramuh: Adds, some sort of aoe thunder thing??? that might be worse if something happens? It's a mystery. Oh well. At least I can't get called SLOPPEH.
All crafters and gatherers have hit 30... (screams internally) ...time to go nuts decorating my house. Will post pics.
@littlepinkbeast they added last year's Valentine's items to mog station and i think you were the one wishing you'd gotten the hat?
Does anyone know the basics of the 'summoner wol is canon' theory? I've heard of it being a thing, but I know nothing about the reasoning behind it and google has been pretty unhelpful. Also I am finding myself sad that I can't get a copy of Encyclopedia Eorzea. Australians getting fucked by dickhead shipping, as always. Can't even find a pdf of the damn thing. Woe.
@Akiv'a and i share a copy of EE if you have a request for a specific section we could probably get you a photo of it? Otherwise I've never heard of this theory, but Aki is a SMN main so they might have insight.
@Hobo yeah I can take pics if theres something youd like to know about. I dont know anything about this summoner wol is canon thing tho. The only thing I can say about it is that both the storylines for 30-50 and 51-60 SMN job quests are the most related to the MSQ storyline. They sync up well with each other as you go thru it. So for me, maining summoner from 30-60 MSQ was EXTREMELY rewarding and more immersive than another job would've been (I have most of them to 50 at least). But again i dont really think... it makes sense for the wol to be a summoner canonically? Esp because Summoners are NERDS.. Their work is based on math and stuff, and MSQ and sidequests often have people treating you like an idiot. The actual WoLs in openings and promotional stuff never included a summoner either.
Yeah, it has to do with how tied summoner job quests are to msq. Judging by the dude in the opening, the actual canon wol is warrior -> dragoon -> monk, as much as any of this is canon.
Ah ok. It's weird, because I've also heard vague mentions actually as specific as 'female hyur summoner' (possibly a midlander?). I'm assuming that's just wishful thinking on the part of the people who play that particular race/sex combo? I don't know. Maybe I'm just reading too much into offhand comments about things of dubious legitimacy. @Akiv'a !!! That would be great, though I'm not sure what I'm looking for is something that would actually be discussed in the book. I was wondering about non-Eorzean religions/gods, specifically if there's anything local to Othard/the Au Ra? Maybe something more detailed about the Dawn Father/Dusk Mother? I'm curious whether I should just start making shit up, or if there's an actual canon belief system already in place for them that I've missed. I'm almost 100% sure it's mentioned that belief in the Twelve is essentially exclusive to Eorzea from... I want to say a Ferne post somewhere on the forums, but eh. It's entirely possible that I'm full of shit. Au Ra need more in-game relevance, god dammit.
Well, given that the Garleans basically crush religion in their conquest as much as they can, that's not really that much of a stretch.
MSQ: "Yeah bro I can point you to where you can get a super rare and valuable adamantoise egg, but it's gotta be done all stealthy like 'cause it's technically poaching". Levequest: "Adamantoise are an invasive species. Cull some and collect a bunch of their eggs to supplement the Wood Wailer rations." Spoiler I mean I suppose the guy was bullshitting me all along to "test" me but
@Starcrossedsky yeah that would make sense about why the theory exists, though it still doesnt make much sense based on how people treat you in msq. I'm not sure what the point of having a canon job is... because of the many job options and even the gender of your character changing MSQ dialogue to tailor the story to you as the player. They needed a wol to put in the opening scenes/promotional material, and he himself changes classes... which also sort of supports there not being a canon job. The canon is that you can switch back and forth. Not to mention all of his WoL friends were different classes too. If we want to talk relevance to the game and the WoL, then Dragoon and Dark Knight make just as much sense as Summoner would in how they are tied to story and character development. So in that, I agree with you yeah. The promotional WoL is just trying to tell you you can be anything aspire to be, guys!!! It's all Canon!!! @Hobo That description is weird, honestly, considering that actual summoner job gear is modeled by two different genders, in at least three different images... 3/4 characters of which are male (there are both midlanders tho, I think). There's a different character (both race and gender) modeling ach of the job outfits in the art book so it proves basically nothing. I'm pretty sure that was wishful thinking on that other person's part, for sure. As for th Au Ra stuff... yeah I want more Au Ra stuff too 8( !!!! I'll take a look through the book and take pics of whatever I can find. I do remember there isn't much sadly. I do know for a fact that Twelve are an Eorzea Only thing so you are correct. Or at least as far as lore has led us to believe. I went looking a while back for Dawn Father/ Dusk Mother stuff, but I cant actually remember if I found anything. I'll see what I can dooooooo. For reference though, here are the official summoner illustrations: Spoiler: behold 3/4 man, somewhat large images EDIT: whoops gotta make sure im using the right account to post XD
Also, I wanted to say that according to Encyclopedia Eorzea that if you want to get REAL TECHNICAL about who should be representing the summoners, its the Allagans, because THEY are the ones who DEVELOPED summoning. Giant genetically altered nerds in the summoning gear is actually canon.
Alright so... turns out my cat busted my tablet before I asked about the minion drawings (probably should've checked before asking), so I've had to draw all of this with a mouse and won't be finishing it until I get my tablet sorted out, but I just wanted to post it so show that I haven't forgotten about unicolt. Horses are the worst. How do you even do cute horses?
