I am informed that user signups were broken, and possibly at least one other thing, found some error messages in logs, fixed them.
For some reason backspace sometimes acts as a navigational key even when I am typing in the post box. So I'll go to fix a typo or something, and lose my entire post. This has happened three times now, always with a big (>3 paragraphs) post.
Unfortunately this is (usually) a problem with web browsers and not the forum itself =/ Usually it happens if the page isn't done loading or has failed to load certain, potentially unseen elements.
It took fifteen minutes to write one of those posts, and then when I tried to highlight and delete a sentence, it instead went back and lost my post! It also usually does this when I highlight things-although sometimes it backspaces when I haven't highlighted things. It's irritating and often happens after I have already used backspace once on the page. Very irritating.
Do you have an ad blocker or anything like that enabled on kintsugi? That could be causing the issue.
Save draft works automatically but it has a delay so sometimes it doesn't save before accidental page back. I have the Lazarus add-on for saving text box contents, it helps sometimes too. Not sure how secure it is.
I've been wanting to ask for a while, is there a way to implement a "block thread" feature? I have the following reasons for wanting this: - Sometimes, a person makes one thread that makes me really uncomfortable, or I need a break from it, and I don't really want to see it popping up when I visit a subforum, but I don't want to ignore the person because I have nothing against anything else they post, or we actually interact regularly in other contexts and I don't want to lose that. - I also don't want to go on self-imposed ban from entire subforums - especially if it's a subforum such as Top Serket or XX/XY which is not necessarily for triggering stuff but ends up having some regardless. For example, there's a thread in XX/XY whose title itself freaks me out, and since its creator and the mods agreed no to move it to ITA, which I respect, I'd love to be able to just block it without blocking the user who created it. - Even if I unwatch a thread, I still get messages when people like posts I made in said thread, or when someone quotes me. And obviously wjen I go to the subforum listing I still see it. Some months ago I actually asked to no longer be pinged in a thread because I was ignoring it, unwatched the thread... and the thread maker quoted my post to reply "Okay", thus giving me more notifications and subscribing me to the thread again, and it made me want to scream. - Even if I do put someone on ignore, I still get notifications about other people's replies to the threads they make, and said threads can still show up, for example, in the "New Posts" box or in the "latest message in this subforum" bit of the forum listing. None of this is necessarily a huge deal for me, but it does have a negative impact on my forum experience amd I imagine I'm not alone in this, so I thought I'd suggest tye feature amd ask if it's possible.
If it turns out that block thread isn't possible, and you primarily check Kintsugi on something with adblock, there's a workaround for the thread title: do a word replace for the whole phrase, specific to Kintsugi.
Ooooh, that's a brilliant idea! Not very helpful in my case since I mostly access Kintsugi on my phone, but still excellent <3
I know some versions of xenforo can do thread-specific banning, but I dunno if that's quite what you're asking about. Not sure if it's something that's baked into the main software or something Xon over on SV did from scratch.
I tried checking the profile of an account I know is follower-viewable-only, and got this error message instead:
there's also the checkbox to turn it off entirely there. i can do that for a quick science if you want.
