a good thing to know about me is that no matter how deeply rooted my headcanons are i WILL immediately ditch them out of spite if you so much as auto for a moment example a:
Insulting my characters for one if you ask me about my OCs/fantrolls/etc, then immediately start dragging them, lmao also the whole "Oh so basically [character from fandom]" when you have maybe two pieces of information about them like lmao no I don't really mind "so she's kind of like Roxy?" because then I can be "haha maybe, but she's more [explains]" but saying "Isn't that basically Roxy, lmao wow" is a sUREFIRE WAY TO PISS ME THE FUCK OFF ETA: the two pieces of info were 1. her name, and 2. her parents OK LISTEN SO MAYBE I MADE AN OC WHO WAS THE KID OF TWO OTHER CANON CHARACTERS SHHSHSH
Them: Haha I like this prompt, what characters do you want to play Me: Well I've been really craving characters x and y Them: Oh sorry I'm only looking for character z Then why..did you...ask...
I have way more experience with tabletop and face to face rp then online rp... so my biggest peeves are a little different. 1.) When nobody will talk to me in character. I get it, giving your character voice is hard but at least give me a few sentences before you retreat back into third person. 2.) Giving into the temptation to debate every single action our party is going to take for hours in and out of character. It was all too easy for my d&d group to fall into this trap. 3.) Rushing the end - I know our time slot is almost up, but at least let me get some closure for this person I've been playing for four hours.
DM-Boyfriends who keep dicking around with my character. Tried to force my paladin to cure disease on someone who got it via visiting a whore house and could have just as easily gone to the temple of the appropriate god to get it dealt with. (Character felt that her cure disease should be used for epidemics and the like, and that her god was not the appropriate god to go to.) DM-Boyfriend tried to threaten the character with losing her paladin powers all-together. I said "Okay, she's a fighter now." Boyfriend then tried to force me to go on a quest to stay a paladin and I said "no." Tried to teach my paladin compassion for the undead by...making her an undead minion of a critter from the Ravenloft campaign. (We were not in Ravenloft. I HATE the Ravenloft Campaign, just so you know.) Me: This is only going to make her want to kill undead even more, out of compassion, you realize. Tried to make my extremely celibate priestess marry his npc. For some reason decided my fighter character should be enslaved to a misogynistic npc. My character tried to get out of it with an archery contest, which she lost despite rolling a twenty. Then he wouldn't let my character find a way to escape, THEN wouldn't let my character commit suicide. (I did not consent to the babes in chains story line. I told him I did not want to be in a babes in chains story line, he did it anyway.) Forced my character to interact with a Q-like entity who kept asking her what she wanted. She did not want anything from the Q-like entity because honestly, would you trust some weird being that in no way inspired trust that wanted to give you something? I could not find a different game to be in. I was much, much, MUCH less able to social then than I am now, and I did not know how to get into games on my own. I also had an extreme lack of confidence in table top roleplaying in general because I had a very hard time learning the damn rules of the games in question. (Also, the only way I could game was if I was going on a "date." My parents believed that roleplaying was Satanic, Dungeons and Dragons especially so. So I would go on "dates" that were actually gaming nights. Sadly, my parents found out and gave me a ridiculous curfew and so on.) Note: this was way back in the 90s, when I was a teenager.
people who do this: look if you wanna bring in another character msparp has character shortcuts for a reason EDIT: more gripes that im not making another post for me: *carefully calculated reply that takes into account the information theyve given me on their character and canon powers of my own character and explains why its unlikely that their character would survive unharmed* them: *reply that acts like literally nothing just happened so their character wins*
People who...I have no idea how to describe it. They are being snarky and slightly insulting in their descriptions toward your character? Specifically in the reactions you're trying to write toward the their character? And you have to keep playing as if you aren't reading the bullshit in the descriptions, where the description is saying how stupid the character is not to see that so and so is actually such and such. Like there was this one person on Sages of Chaos who I just started ignoring (or insulting right back) because of this, because it seemed like really passive aggressive nastiness disguised as roleplaying. And there was a moderator in another rp who tended to combine this bullshit with god-modding.
flashbacks to the 8 billion fuckers who immediately changed to kankri back when i still rped cronus on msparp
i don't actually know what auto stands for/is an abbreviation of but essentially it means godmodding in the context of controlling someone else's character or deciding on traits of their character (whether appearance, personality, history, etc) without the other person's permission
Spoiler HEY. IF WE'RE IN THE MIDDLE OF A SMUT SCENE. PLEASE DON'T SPRING YOUR CHARACTER BEING RELATED TO MINE ON ME OUT OF THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE.
It's from autohit, originating in something something fight scenes where "I punch you and you die" became a real problem. The common approach began not to assume an automatic hit, or autohit, and instead throw the punch and stop there.
when people come into a group rp and their character starts doing the exact same thing your character is doing to steal their thunder the other day I was in a group chat rp, and my oc started cooking for the group, and partway through it, this person comes into the chat, their character goes right for my character, asks what he's doing, sits down, and starts... also cooking like not helping like making a new meal, asking if other people want to taste it, as if my character wasn't there at all xD; tbh I found it kind of funny while my friends were getting pretty pissed off, but I definitely wouldn't want it to happen a gain
Has someone already mentioned those people who show up and go on about how LONELY they are and OH IF ONLY SOMEONE WOULD NOTICE THEM maybe I've mentioned it it still bears repeating STOP. like, honestly, a lot of those people will start complaining OOC that ohhhh there's nothing to DO when they could just...ask someone to get involved? OOC? the Worst part is when they're only waiting for One Particular Character Spoiler: technically nsfw I guess? I was in a smut chat where this person showed up and EVERYONE offered to RP with them... and they shot everyone down because they wanted this One Specific Character who didn't want to RP with them right at that second because they had 4 other RPs going on it was literally "just hang tight for a bit, please, thank you!!" but nope???? they kept hanging around and bitching so they got asked to leave and threw a shitfit over it lmao
I'm here I'm queer I need to bitch about this new DW game's premise page and how they are apparently a monster transformation game (in the vein of ryslig and town of salem, for those who also dwrp) and there is absolutely not indication of that on their premise page. Like. Having the gimmick that's the whole point of your game on your premise page is kind of an important thing. I'm not the only one who thinks that, right, and views the premise page as a sort of "this is what to expect" page? right??? anyway I left them a comment to that effect in their plurk so hopefully something gets done about that.
follow-up: hooooooly shit it's basically like 95% a ryslig ripoff, there's gonna be drama on the morn
is it bad that I know what that is SOLELY because one of the only other active RH fans is RPing my fave there
