This is back a little, but the only "this character is autistic" post I've seen recently was from Sour Cream listening to music at the table, which I honestly kinda dig as a person who uses music as a security blanket

My dad watched (well, more like "passively observed while doing other things") Historical Friction with me last night, and he actually laughed at several points. He doesn't laugh much--he's far from humorless or stern, he just has to find something REALLY funny to actually laugh. He even asked me to repeat a line he had missed. And given that he recently took a which-character-are-you quiz after I linked to it on my Facebook (without me asking him to), I think we may have a new fan in the making... Spoiler: spoilers for Historical Friction Not much to say about the episode besides that it was funny and cute and I'm really happy that Jamie took Garnet's advice (both regarding theater and love taking time and work--he seems to be over his infatuation with her, which is awesome) and got the theater gig. The callback to Garnet's "REALLY. GOOD. SWIMMER." line was an especially nice touch. Also, am I the only one who thought of that "Washington, Washington, twelve stories high, made of radiation" video when Dewey's script referred to William Dewey growing to be fifty feet tall?

Spoiler: spoiler man, spoiler man, does whatever a spoiler can Garnet choosing to fuse with Pearl after their conversation felt a bit less meaningful than it could have considering that they both would have died otherwise. That conversation, though. Pearls-as-servant-class more or less confirmed, I think. It sounds like Pearl doesn't always recognize responsibility for her own actions because she doesn't really see herself as having free will? This week, Pearl and Amethyst both had an important experience of finding out that someone they respect respects them. When Peridot was alone in the ship's control room, working at a big screen, I was kinda hoping Yellow Diamond would contact her.
People in the tag are so mad that other people dare to like Peridot it's kinda hilarious. Spoiler: Friend Ship talk Gem class system confirmed, with Pearl's talk about being "just a Pearl" and how she needs someone to give her orders. I'm glad Pearl and Garnet had that talk, and I also really liked how on top of keeping Steven safe Amethyst was today- catching him with her whip, picking him up when they were running past the spikes, ect. I love purple mom 0u0
Spoiler: A Thing OK, so, the tiny room? Had nowhere near enough room to dance in. Which means that Sardonyx was formed without any of the usual synchronizing buildup, the way Garnet and Stevonnie did. Since it seems like that only happens when people are really synced up, I wonder what that means for Garnet and Pearl?
@KarrinBlue Spoiler: a probably non-serious response to that but it had plenty of walls Spoiler: general ep thoughts now we know why this was the week of sardonyx! this episode really shows how the sardonyx incident affected them, with how they were really out-of-sync at first and all - which took me by surprise, honestly, haha. i was like, "why were they all fucking up so bad? ... oh right, of course, that shit." also, @soulsuckingisaacnewton pearls-as-servant-class and her having trouble recognizing herself as having free will is very interesting. i like it - in an angst-fic kinda way, you know... just yeah... and yay, garnet admires pearl! garnet and pearl talking and making up was basically my fave part of the episode!

Spoiler: Friend Ship Talk So, Peridot confirmed for being able to take her legs and arms off? How much of Peridot is actually peridot and not robot attachments? Also, that spaceship is definitely going to give more fuel to pink diamond theorists.
I like how the only gem not confirmed for huge Dorkus Megorkus is Jasper. But I have hope, for Peridot has proved that it is a label which can live in perfect harmony inside a Jerkus Megerkus.
Spoiler Oh and, re: limb detachment- I'm not sure what would prevent any kind of gem from removing any kind of limb? Their bodies are projections, and they can shape shift, so how hard could it be to just shape shift a bit from the main bit? Maybe there's a mental block for that sort of thing. Feels like something that might be difficult to bring yourself to do. Also, not sure I buy the "Peridot is actually robot enhanced" thing. Cause, again, shapeshifters. And not just their bodies, their clothes, too. And their weapons. So they can make different kinds of materials/textures/whatever. I think it's more likely that her internal blueprint is just robo-coded, instead of the more organic Crystal Gems. And relics, like Jasper and Lapis.
Two things I realized: Peridot's hand cannon is essentially a weaponized flipoff. When you are humming we are the crystal gems, it's very easy to accidentally segue into space oddity.
