Humans are the weirdest aliens?

I'm still not quite convinced. Dogs, for example, can't have had throwing anywhere in their evolutionary past but they can catch thrown toys in midair. Which I guess you could argue we bred into them, but I think it's more likely to be an artifact of hunting, since you've got to be able to spot where your dinner is going to be in the moment it takes you to reach it.

Species not descended from predators, who knows, I guess?

 

"Human, you put your children through combat training drills at such a young age?!"
"Nah, they're just playing dodgeball, they won't really get hurt."
"But, they're making such difficult calculations with the goal of striking each other! this must be combat training, I thought you're species had laws against child soldiers!"
"Man, if this is bothering you, you should see kickball."

 

Rabbit aliens still might want to know if that bird is aimed at them. But tunneling aliens, I like that. That has possibilities.

 

It doesn't take much trajectory calculation to catch a blade of grass.

 

Nor depth perception, which herbivores also tend to lack.

 

What if most aliens had smaller cells than us, and were smaller as a result? Like...what if the most common size for sophonts was blackbird-sized?

We'd be even more of towering giants than with the child-size aliens.

 

Oh no, we'd basically be Frankenstein's monsters. D:

 

What if most aliens didn't evolve to work with microbial life on their planets? What if humans were the only ones with symbiotic bacteria in our guts and stuff? Like, aliens just have a lot more specialized cells, and when they find out about humans being symbiotic with like, 50% of the life on our planet, or at least being able to easily live with it without getting sick for the most part, they're just like. "WHAT."
