Okay so I saw this on tumblr but I thought I should share! So have a comforting warm milk drink. Its mild, but sweet in the most perfect way. You need an average sized coffee mug, honey, cinnamon, water, and milk. Put two teaspoons of honey in your mug. Then a good sized pinch of cinnamon. Pour boiling water in, but only fill it half full. Mix up the honey and cinnamon. Make sure there are no chunks! Fill the rest of the cup with milk! Its so simple and yummy.
I made jam today. We have three kinds of raspberries growing in our back and side lawns. First, rubus occidentalis, the North American native black raspberry. Second, some variety of rubus strigosis with very large berries. And third, just a few canes of the mutant golden raspberry--I suspect a mutant of r. occidentalis. Anyway, I canned most of the r. occidentalis today (I still have about a pint of berries left), as well as the golden. The r. strigosis is still producing (and I ran out of jars), so that will be another day's work. I got nine half pint jars of the black and one and a half of the golden. I only processed the full jar of golden and will eat the half pint fresh. Pics? OK! The berries laid out. De-seeding some of the r. occidentalis (those little berries have a lot of seeds!) Ready to boil (A couple of the golden ones snuck in) Sterilize! Makin' jam! We haz jamz!
Also for extra calming sleepytime version: replace water with boiling chamomile tea. You can also replace water with chai tea for another yummy spin!
omg i'm so jelly get it? jelly? LAWL ok but seriously i am envying you because our raspberries just didn't do their thing hardly at all this year, idk if it was too cold during polinating time or what, but instead of whole berries we got hard little dark nubs with like one or two odd blups of berry.

not actually a cooking accomplishment but I need to brag around with my nice birthday presents! Idk if any of ya guys know Cynthia Barcomi but she is like the local baking goddess around here, she has a high end coffeeshop+bakery+kitchenware shop in the hipster neighbourhood and I am a huge fan because she is very nice and has hella baked goods! And great coffee! Sooo I already had one of her recipe books but she recently published a new one which was all about cookies and stuff like that and it had some savory cookie recipes and I was just like !!!!!!! when I heard of it so my little brother gave it to me as a present x3 And now my grandma gave me money to buy myself a nice baking thing too and I have been eyeing this kind of expensive but hella brownie tin in the barcomi's shop for a while and on wednesday I'LL BUY IT HHHHHHH!!! And there is left over money so I might also splurge on a few mini pie things because what, they are so CUTE HELP so basically. I'm making very sensible decisions with my birthday money and buying some baking forms because this is exactly the kind of priorities I am known to make. Because baked goods are love.
definitely not the most exciting kitchen adventure, but: grilled PB&J is actually awesome. I was worried that it wouldn't be worth the extra set-up+grilling time, but it was really nice only smooth peanut butter though, chunky would be gross hot I imagine
Processing seven more half pints of jam today. Totally de-seeded. It's about half red and half black raspberries. I think I have enough red ones for one more batch. And the apple tree is getting close! I'm not sure what I want to make with those, but there are a shitload of apples.
I made potato chip cookies today. In fact I am baking a shitload of things in the next few weeks in preparation of a big camping trip so I will probably make a big post reviewing recipes and relaying them for people who want them :D
So, its not really a recipe, seeing as i used cakemix, but i made (and decorated) cupcakes for Avalon's birthday. They have the themes of Minecraft and Blood Magic. The individual cupcakes were these: Redstone cupcake, sugarcane cupcake, wither skull cupcake, blood cupcake, panda cupcake, plain cupcake with a papercrsft zombie on top, blood altar cupcake, fishies cupcake, dagger of sacrifice cupcake, smeltery controller cupcake, eye of ender cupcake, and a glowstone dust cupcake. :) Spoiler: Pictures Galore Do they work now?
