Ford had been about to make some (probably overly pedantic) comment to the effect that if it were wrong to play around with certain parts of one's body there wouldn't be so many really good nerve endings there, and he even had his mouth halfway open when he heard Venture's comment.

"Was that actually what people were doing?" It didn't look that way to him. But he misses a lot of things when non-organic people are involved. He's not always really good at reading faces, but ears and noses and head tilts and moving closer and further away are dances he's learned and he knows how they work. (It was easier, with Valiska, than it was with other humans, at first, because she didn't think he was supposed to know, but she was just like the cat his mother had had once; she blinked her eyes at him, her ears moved, and she often looked like a disgusted human when she smelled things she actually found fascinating--except that she was sapient and sexy and she didn't make him sneeze.)
