And of course what Tori is really doing is being absolutely incapable of being reasonable about the topic at hand at all. Learning firsthand how your father was abused and why he abuses you and your sister, all while triggering him and feeling that does that to a person.

 

I know I did. I'm not sure if Valiska did. Valiska hasn't commented much about it because she's not offended by it.

But--she hasn't interacted with Terranaani much.


BTW.

@Wilhelm is from Gaia, where he hangs out with me in my main account (Valiska Pines) and my secondary account (Doctor Pines--who is Ford--I needed a secondary account and he and his Ford wanted to meet our Ford). Valiska was utterly charmed on Gaia to run into another Ford and a nice Bill who were in a relationship.

Ford is just confused. He gets that Tori is being not-rational and is probably triggered and all but he doesn't know how to talk to him.

I don't think he's going to reply. He doesn't know how to reply. Ford is really too spergy to grasp how anyone could think he accused Tori of anything. If he had MEANT that, he would have SAID that. If he can't get that point across, or if Tori's not willing/able to believe him when he says he's not being subtle, they're not going to be able to communicate. He's a brilliant man and he can understand the concept of metaphor in literature but in casual conversation he really does not grok subtlety.

Perhaps Moira can help...Ford used to drive her absolutely nuts until she realised he absolutely didn't get a lot of things she said and wasn't just being deliberately obtuse.

Ford can't grasp it and Tori is stuck in "I am upset and can no longer think of literally anything else except myself and how I feel right now" anxiety land.

...and sadly his sister's advice would be "I don't know. I just kind of ignore him when he gets like this".

Moira is @Moirana of Clan Aerihman, one of my characters from WT. She's one of Ford's moirails and prone to metaphors and subtle phrasing. It's conflicted with Ford's spergy-ness a few times.

Yeah, it was kind of adorable when she finally figured out that That's Just How He Is. They also connected over Crippling Guilt for Universe-Breaking Bad Decisions and she is one of the people who helps Valiska keep him firmly grounded in two basic truths:

1) Bill lied to him when he was very young and very desperate, and he believed it, but he didn't actually endorse ANY of Bill's true plans; and

2) Even if he hadn't left Stan any warnings (which he did) and Stan hadn't decided to ignore all of them, and he had had the good sense to make sure he brought Valiska with him when he went back to the Falls, and so on and so on ad nauseam... he made bad decisions that permitted Bill to come into both Dimension 46'\ and Dimension 52, among others, but it was 100% Bill who decided to be a fucking murderous asshole.

In this respect interacting with @Wilhelm is actually really good for him, despite his discomfort. Because it means he gets to see that @the bill of wrongs chose to be an unregenerate, unreconstructed, intervention-impervious fucking asshole malignant narcissistic sociopath. Instead of just this funny chaotic trickster who actually cares about people even if he is the cause of thrice-weekly calls to the Gravity Falls fire department.

 

I actually want to see @Wilhelm and Petra's @Pree Aesma hang out...

Tori has remarkably few people to help him deal with crippling guilt. Or rather no one because the little shit doesn't let anyone. I AM TORI AND I WILL NOT ASK FOR HELP EVEN WHEN I DESPERATELY FUCKING NEED IT. INSTEAD I WILL BE A CAGEY BASTARD TO EVERYONE WHEN I'M UPSET.
