I think the closest workable analogy to parent-divorce would be separating from your lusus, which is a thing that can happen on Ascension if your lusus can't manage life on a spaceship, or is too big?
We never meet our genetic progenitors, and, due to the way we reproduce, everyone in one hatching is somewhat related to ewherryone else alreedy, so...

Our Ancestors are ushorely long dead before we're hatched. Mine runs around here sometimes, if you meet a lady who looks like me but has scarred-white skin, hair, horn stumps, and exclusively talks in rhymes, that's her.

Outside of clades we have krchk-k, which translates to both "friend" and "enemy" in most languages I've found, and is sort of a being civil and helping each other out for favours, but still very open for opportunism and backstabs.

 

I was born in the Incipisphere, but grew up outside of it. And then, I returned.

"Guess who's no longer a jobless bum!" Bill exclaimed excitedly, a stupid grin on his face which faded into a slightly more embarrassed one as he realized his statement. "Not that I didn't help around before, but yeah!" He quickly adds on.

 

You needed a job?

 

"Not really," He shakes his head as he took another sip of tea, "But I'd feel better actually contributing to something instead of taking up space in the shack. And I'll admit this job might be right up my alley!" The stupid grin returns.

 

*laughs* I figured. I can't really picture any Bill ever needing to work, honestly.

What kind of job is it?

Maybe the next time I see the other Bill I can point him at that profession and tell him to entertain himself with it instead of chaos and destruction and shit.

 

"I don't suppose you've heard of Marshall, Carter and Dark?" He sat up. "If not, I'm by no means surprised- they love their secrecy! I've managed to grab a job as a consultant for them, and boy, they're sure efficient with how they work!"

 

I'm guessing that the stuff they need consulting on is really interesting.

 

"That's one way to put it! They deal with the anomalous- moreso, they buy and sell anomalous objects! A good buddy of mine pointed me their way in the first place, and since he knows his stuff, I figured why not?"

 

Anomalous objects? Are any of them lamps or smoof? 'Cause if they are, you should really check them for genies and then free the genies if there are any.

 

"I'll do what I can to do so, and if I can't- well, I'll just buy off the lamps myself to do it. If there's one thing I can't stand above anything it's being contained, so I wouldn't wish it on anyone else!" Except for one person. "This makes me curious about a few things, actually... What's different between each of our dimensions? What's the same? Are there direct mirrors to each dimension in existence?" He rambled on, more talkative now that he felt comfortable enough in the company he kept.

 

*smiles softly* Thanks.

*laughs* And if I knew more about your dimension, I might answer that. But I don't so...

 

"No problem!" He smiles back, giving a thumbs up before finishing off his tea.
"I'd tell you a bit about it but I have no clue where to even START! Haha!"

 

That's fair. Dimensions are pretty big, after all.

 

"That's part of the fun of them- So many places! So many faces!" He raises his arms in gesture as he continues. "You end up meeting all sorts of people, and it's constantly changing- It's great!"

 

*grins* Yep. The first time I was free for a decent amount of time, after Fairy Idol, I went all over the world, doing all the fun things I could think of. And dodging as much responsibility as possible.

 

"Haha! I can't blame you for that! It's a feeling like no other- you never know if it's going to end and just want to live in it while you can! Things seemed to have worked out for you in the end, though- that's good!"
