I'll put my name on the list. Specifically I'm wondering about going back to school this year, doing my Master's - I'm trying to work on my perfectionism/procrastination feedback loop, introversion/anxiety/depression while being in an industry that requires networking/being social, and juggling professional performance with academia (as well as other potential artist hats, like writing and composing), not to mention the balancing act of new-media entrepreneurship versus working in the traditional system. I really liked the spread @Vacuum Energy did for Nai - but I'm not picky, anyone can have a go. #shooshes the terrified straight-laced Christian in her head #prepares to be smited
Okay, so before I do the actual reading, I'll point out my personal feelings on the issue: the "real college experience" is incredibly, unbelievably overrated and, unless you're being covered by a scholarship, you will pay dearly for it in student loans. The primary reason you would want the College Experience (complete with dorm and parties) is networking, and frankly for those of us who are Internet we generally wouldn't get enough networking done for it to be remotely worth the money. This being said, feel free to apply for a couple "reach" schools - who knows, one of them might be able to extend you a really good scholarship! Now let's just pull a single card... 7 Pentacles (persevering will bring reward). The Pentacles suit is about stability - if you'd gotten a different suit I might've thought differently, but really, this is a 'stick with the safe path and work hard' card. I'll pull Lissiel's reading tomorrow as it seems like a more complicated thing that'll need a Full Spread to answer.
I would like a fuller reading on "how to kickstart the uni thing and DO THE THING FINALLY", and a smaller one on dating/relationships, mainly "how do I get people to come to me because I am awesome and I want to share it now". Thank you! :) PS. I am in Europe (and looking at Finland) so I do not have the worry of having to pay for my school, save for housing + food, so.
(Seconding ve's advice btw @rats. The College Experience is a)kinda sucky if you DO the frat/sorority thing and imo generally emotionally damaging besides and b) seriously not worth it for most people in terms of increased money/job opportunities. Ive seen an awful lot of people spend 4+ years racking up debt and partying only to graduate and not be able to get jobs. :/)
...I feel obscurely embarrassed and foolish for asking this, but if someone's doing gender-related spreads I'd like one. I'm... fairly sure i'm cis but stuff keeps being weird and and and i don't even fucking know Yeah
Could I please get a general future reading from someone? Also, sorry to hijack the thread, but I'd like to offer rune readings, if anyone wants one. I can't speak for my accuracy in interpreting the results with regards to people who aren't me, but that is why I'm offering- I need serious practice. I'm best with single rune readings but I'll also do three-rune readings.
Oh, and, uh, while I am the noobiest noob at tarot readings I seem to have a deck that's demanding I use it to read for other people and not myself, so? Maybe I can pick up some practice. xP
@Witch of Empty and @TwoBrokenMirrors if you want to do me--either my family question or a general reading--I love these things and would v much enjoy being practice for you. :)
I think it's entirely okay to do/have a gender spread even if you are cis or feel cis. We have stuff to deal with our genders too, after all. :)
@Lissiel I may do a past/present/future one for you, if that would be okay, but tomorrow because it's too late here rn. >>
I could probably do a reading if anyone wanted one--I could use the experience. My main decks are Homestuck, Vertigo, and Art Of Life. I've actually made a HS spread before because I'm a dork (I call it the Scratch spread)...would anyone be interested in seeing it?
Okay then! It's a 9-card spread, so...mid-sized/large? Cards 1 through 4 are read more or less as a group; cards 6 through 9 are read similarly, as their own group. Card 5 is read on its own. 1. Your family/home life before the "Scratch." 2. Your personal/inner life before the "Scratch"--inner feelings and issues, you as you actually are. 3. Your public persona/facade before the "Scratch"--how you present yourself and what you choose to show the world. 4. Your interpersonal relationships (friends, lovers, etc.) before the "Scratch." 5. The Scratch. In this context, it symbolizes some sort of major life event. I intended it as a figuring-out-what-might-happen kind of thing, but it could also work if you're trying to figure out the effects a past event may have had on your life. 6. Your family/home life after the "Scratch." 7. Your personal/inner life after the "Scratch." 8. Your public persona/facade after the "Scratch." 9. Your interpersonal relationships after the "Scratch." So essentially, cards 1 through 4 directly correspond with cards 6 through 9 (1-5, 2-7, 3-8, 4-9). I can post a sample reading if you'd like? Not sure how well I explained things. XD
I would also like to do readings for people if that's not going to step on people's toes? I miss doing them, but I don't like reading for myself. :/ I only have the Homestuck deck though. Also @Acey, er, if you don't mind, could I get a Scratch reading off you? I'm about to go through a huge fucking change in my life (moving countries!) and I could use some guidance. #also i appreciate that the public/persona cards are the Striders #nicely done
Ah, I don't mind! If other people want to, like, read it and get a feel for how tarot readings work, it might be nice to post it in the thread. (I know I'm watching this thread half to see how other people do it)
Alrighty! As a warning, I'm pretty sure this is the first reading I've ever done for someone else, so I'm sorry if it sucks. :P Spoiler: Scratch reading for NLAB Position 1 (Home/Family Now): The Lovers. Notably, this can be a card of self-discovery...and since you're moving, that would imply that your home situation might not be what you want. So maybe you're coming to realize that. Position 2 (Personal/Internal Now): Page of Cups. Going off of the previous card, this could continue the theme of self-discovery and thought. It seems like you've been telling yourself what you've needed for a while. Position 3 (Facade Now): The Moon. This one is a little odd in this position, since it doesn't say much about what your facade is. However, it could be warning that you're in danger of "becoming the mask," so to speak--for better or for worse. So y'know. Keep that in mind? Position 4 (Interpersonal Now): The Devil. Ouch. Sounds like there's something--or someone, more likely--that's got you feeling trapped. Hopefully it's someone IRL. :P Position 5 (Scratch): The Star. A card of newfound hope, hell yeah! I'm willing to bet that's a sign that the move is going to be a very positive event in your life. And it might be scary, yeah, but you should keep your chin up--it sounds like it'll lead to good things! Position 6 (Home/Family After): Ten of Wands. It's a card about having to put effort into maintaining your situation, from what I've gleaned...so while you should absolutely remain hopeful, you're definitely gonna have to put in the effort to make your new home and living situation as good as you want it to be. Position 7 (Personal/Internal After): Three of Wands. This bodes really, really well--like The Star, it seems to be a card of hope and optimism. So that implies to me that your mood will be pretty good, yes, but it also seems to say that any hope you might have for your new future is far from misplaced! Position 8 (Facade After): Death. A card of changes--although given the situation, is that really such a surprise? It could be that you'll find yourself reinventing your persona as you integrate yourself into your new country; it could be that you get to be more yourself. Lots of possibilities here. Position 9 (Interpersonal After): Seven of Swords. This was tricky at first, but in conjunction with The Devil in Position 4, it makes sense--you're finally escaping that situation. Things are looking good for you, basically, and I think the move will prove to be very positive for you...so long as you're willing to put in the effort to keep it that way. :)
:') I'm really hoping that the facade and interpersonal things are about transitioning. Thank you, Acey! Admittedly I don't know much about tarot, but I think you did a good job :P
