She's a Light Player, it really is ::3 Start: 10:15 am Where? Some rural road with weird road markings, vegetation looks temperate, I see sheep some kind of livestock. Might be Scotland, or the Netherlands. Let's follow the road. 10:19: right-hand traffic, so mainland. yellow license plates. 10:24: Leerdam. is this where the cheese comes from? I think I'm gonna settle for a train station. 10:30: for some reason I can't follow this roas. Bluh. 10:50: going back the only direction I can, damn invisible walls. Still on a rural road. Which three steps after the fork I can't take loses the road markings. Joy. 10:59: Of course I need to follow the unmarked road and am not allowed to switch to the marked one. 11:06: cattle on the road! 11:06-11:50: break to show pics to my family 11:52: since I'm in the netherlands I could totally get home from here in theory, but the world loads slowly. I'll be satisfied with a train station. Or a tram station. Or hell, even a bus station. 12:00: Can it be? Marked roads? Civilization? 12:24: Arrived in Arkel. Hopefully more mobility here, all this dragging myself along one possible way is getting boring. 12:27: This looks like a bus station, let's blow this popsicle stand oo00
Booyah, made it! @IvyLB I was thinking specifically of the US-Canada border crossing, which is friendly but bureaucratic and tends to have long lines, at least where I usually cross.
@Wiwaxia the schengen agreement (Which Norway is part of despite not being a full member of the EU) means there are no controls or beaurocracy at any borders within europe! so you can actually just kinda drive through to the next country over. If there was a line it was for somethign else.
There is sort of pointy looking palm like things and bigger houses with huge yards. I'm guessing I'm somewhat more south than the last time. It looks like a warmer climate at least. I found a horse standing around covered in a sort of blanket. It seems to be a place where people have their horses for horseback riding and stuff? I'm searching for an intersection, but right now the only roads going off of this one seem to lead directly onto private properties. There are two riders next to me on the street. I kind of want to wave awkwardly and ask for directions. I see a tiny sign at a fence. It says DO NOT ENTER in english. Huh. Out here the vegetation looks more familiar too. Maybe it's not as warm as I thought here. Another sign says LAND FOR SALE. Am I in the US? There is sheep on the next meadow. I don't like the sight of fences anymore. Now there are cows. Okay a bridge. AND a traffic sign. traffic sign is a design I do not recognize. I will keep following my tiny paved road and search for an intersection. At 12:48 I found a roadsign with street or town names on it and my road is splitting. Do I turn left and follow the sign to wherever Katherine Mansfield Dr. is or do I follow my previous northward movement? Seeing as my road towards the north was going to make a sharp left turn anyway I decide to take the second turn. I do not trust the green roadsign.
12:39: tropical vegetation, dirt roads, a hut made from wooden boards, mountains. might be an island, i have the hunch that I saw this place on a documentary or sth before. 12:45: a paved road! some house in one direction, something that might be a sign in the other. heading for the sign. 12:47: something or other in 5km. I cannot read the script, much less identify it. Could be devangali. 12:53: "namtok lamkliao", under more of the unknown script. i have no idea what this means ::D 12:56: wait, this is left-hand traffic, i am on an island. 13:01: it appears the thing i interpreted as "in 5 km" doesn't actually say that. same sign, now with a 6 there. 13:02: can't go further! the pic on the sign shows something that looks indian in style. hrm. go back/abort?
hm, made a guess, i was in thailand instead. whoops. next looks subtropic/savannah, dirt road, right-hand traffic. wire fence, concrete box. could be australia. could be area 51. let's look for something that tells me.
picture quality is shitty, i might actually have been on a paved road all along. road end, who is surprised, not me. "topes" referring to uneven ground is not english, i think? some sort of factory complex and buildings all around. time to head into the other direction.
Arriving at another Roadsign. I am pretty sure I do not want to go to Mangaroa Valley or whatever, so I follow in the direction of the Wallaceville City Centre. And where ever I am there is apparently a school bus here. Good to know! Totally inconclusive, but good to know. this road is very curvy and I'm not sure I'm still going the right direction tbh. Whatever that is. On the other hand I couldn't have gone off the road I was following due to there being no intersections at all. Oh man! A town! Though I seem to be driving past it not through. I still have no idea where I am. If I had to guess I'd say very most Southern part fo the US. Thinking about how the horsebackriders almost an hour ago were on the left hand side maybe I am in the UK? it would explain some of my vegetation confusions. Yeah there is a car it's on the left side. Fuck. Could be UK, South Africa or Australia or something then. Okay I think this town only has like a train station or something. Oh. Well I mean I could go towards the prison I guess but it doesn't seem helpful. I'm gonna try and go north some more. I'm crossing a railway. Is there even an airport around here? My mom put froth the notion that I could be in New Zealand. I don't even know anymore. This place has a burger king. I think I got lost inside this town. Ugh. Gonna try to get out. The time is 13:34 And I am still gonna try to go as much north as possible.
Mileage in km/h and not in mph, so not USA then. whelp, I officially have no idea where the fuck I am ::D
13:41: actually paved road. train crossing. road leads into the hicks in one direction, and towards a bigass advertisement sign and houses into the other. heading towards the houses. 13:43: fucking steering. at the train crossing, sign "Cemex Planta Hermosillo". sounds ... spanish?. oh, and guess who can't head towards the houses. fucking invisible walls 14:07: miles upon miles of straight road leading nowhere
Technically I should probably stop moving north as there are visible mountains up ahead towards the north. I do not think the build airports in the mountains. I'm in some sort of suburban area now, trying to exit wallaceville. Let's see where this takes me. Let's see what happens if I follow a road towards the east. The mountainrange up ahead to the north doesn't seem reassuring. Okay this is a deadend. Turning around. I had to turn around like 4 times by now. I am again in farmland hell. The sheep are laughing at me. I give up. 14:10. Unstealth. I was in fact in New Zealand. In the ass end of nowhere.
Trying again. 01:25: I am on a boat. A small boat. I didn't know Google had mapping boats. And it's foggy. Let's see where this goes. 01:31: I give up. Both directions only go so far. Unstealth. I'm off Greenland.
