I have a nit comb I use on my scalp sometimes when the picking urges or itching are really bad. It gives me the satisfaction of scratching and "get skin off" but its faster and usually results in less scabbing than just using my fingers

Also, from what I remember, none of the YouTubes I linked are shame-y about picking.

    Dr. Lee (in her earlier videos) remarks that it's kinda weird that people like to watch the videos, but as far as I could tell she doesn't act like it's bad or wrong, just unusual. As time went on, she got more positive about it, like "yeah!! Watching this is REALLY relaxing for some people, and others like them because it helps them avoid picking themselves, isn't that neat? I had no idea! So many people we get to make happy!" She's really so positive and nice ;u;

She still obviously tells people that picking can damage their skin (I mean, she IS a doctor), but afaik she's never shamed anyone for squeezing on an annoying cyst.

Cyst removals, blackheads etc, and for whatever reason, ear wax removal videos all fascinate me. And sometimes keep my mind occupied enough with the idea of it happening without my hands having to actually do it (pick/pull) themselves.

Satisfying hair-pulling videos don't really exist that I've been able to find, on the other hand. For the presumed reason that there is no healthy medical reason to rip out your hairs by the roots, much less zoom-enhance close-ups of each individual one as you do so.

Other advice for skin pickets: dim the light in your bathroom/rooms with mirrors!! I moved about a year and a half ago, and the lighting in my bathroom and bedroom are not at an angle that shows zits very well. This kind of forced me to pick less, because it was hard to see small things on my face and pretty much anything on my shoulders and back.

Also, for a while when I was wearing a lot of nail polish, that helped me be mindful of absentminded picking because my nails felt different, but idk how well that would work for anyone else

i did not know these videos were a thing! these will definitely help me not pick

i'll like, see a dot on my skin and *dramatic zoom* MUST REMOVE, so seeing other people remove that shit will help me focus on not clawing off my freckles just in case

Also I go through periods where I pick at my arms as well. Eventually my nail biting habits result in me not being able to effectively pick...but also sometimes I hold off on nail biting so that I can pick better.

You may enjoy electrolysis videos and ingrown hair removals. Josefa Reina has some of each.

Also, in a not medical professional and therefor questionably sound, there are many videos of people plucking beard hairs maximum close up.

I don't have a huge problem with it but the other day I did that... and then ate an orange.... MISTAKES!!

Anyway on the Wikipedia page for BFRBs they talk about cheek, lip, and tongue chewing, so I assume so? *welcomes u*

I have totally done this, but with chips. Do not remove layers of skin from your lips and then eat potato chips, it only ends in suffering.

ive used scotch tape to pull dead skin off my face instead of scratching it and it feels soooo good *__* and is probably less harmful

In here to say SAME HAT before leaving because one of my dermo triggers is reading/seeing/thinking things about my skin or skin picking.

The best solution I've found is a good skincare regime. The least comedogenic soaps (anything sls free. Look for soaps for sensitive skin, not for acneic skin because those often have the worst ingredients), a face brush (one of the electronic ones, but used a manual one for a while) and a back scrubber. I also get a flakey scalp, and I find a good anti dandruff shampoo (not head and shoulders, preferably sls free) and gentle conditioner (I use dermaveen oatmeal conditioner).

I have no idea if this is anything like what you're looking for, but I do actually have a slow-mo video of a guy's leg hair getting waxed.

Also yeah, I'm the 'oh god there is Stuff in my Pores get it Out!!' type. I also do this with other people's pores. Luckily @a tiny mushroom is extremely patient with me (and has nice oily skin *-*). One Weird Thing that worked for me...one time I was staying in a hotel and they had weird soap with bits of rosemary embedded in it and oh my god it was so satisfying to pick at. If I can find a place that sells it online I'll link it.

I've been chewing my nails since I was little and picking at any little skin irregularity since puberty. I even used to chew on my hair. I thought it was just a habit brought on by anxiety about acne, didn't realize it was a diagnosible Thing, but looking at the diagnostic criteria... it is a compulsive, repetitive behavior, and I do kinda have rituals around it... it happens more when I feel anxious or bored, and once I get started I have trouble stopping.

I used to do it to my ex, too! STUFF IN PORES. GOTTA GET IT OUT. and then eat it

...I haven't clipped my nails in the traditional fashion since I was a little kid when my parents would make me/do it for me. I just learned how to chew them off in such a way that they look pretty ok.
Ahhhhhh okay I need to think about something else before I just chew my whole body away
