...So I finally figured out why I don't really like what I've seen of JadeRose- it's all too conflictless. In canon, Jade and Rose are the beta kids that are the furthest apart- it's pretty clear that Rose is super distrustful of Jade. Their aesthetic is almost polar opposite and they have extremely different ways to approach things while holding themselves to similarly impossibly high standards, and in most people that clash would create a bunch of conflict. In most fanfics with JadeRose (or, like, basically any f/f ship if I am being honest) it is just the healthy, cuddly ship in the background without any real sense of drama there. I want a giant ass enemies to friends to lovers JadeRose bildungsroman that takes place over years and has drama and tension and the development of an actual relationship, man. ...I've 3/4ths of a mind to write it myself.
