it's cool, that with norm the genie, i'm literally introducing people to him, who have never heard of him before and don't have any assumptions coming in. :D:D:D like, he's not my oc - obviously - but i feel like i'm achieving something similar to what people do with ocs: getting people invested in a character that they never knew existed before.

And boy, do I know THAT feeling! I'm in a similar situation with a character that's been near and dear to my heart for nearly 16 years now and almost nobody knows about this character or where he's from- only about 30 or 40 people I've asked during this time had even heard about him- but at the same time there's that sense of happiness when you get someone into something you enjoy.

Thanks, @Loq , I've been trying to figure out why Deirdre is, at some point down the timeline, twice as old as her species naturally gets but still looks early middle-aged, while being explicitly not immortal because paladins don't work that way.
The answer is, they can't just make the role, there's a belief element to it (and Tershoet is actually out of commission in that timeframe, but that's not something that gets said, even in this liminal dreamspace).
It appears that somewhere down the line, people started believing in Deirdre.
