Has anyone tried shudder.com? I heard about it on a podcast yesterday, and I'm wondering how it compares to Netflix. Edited to add: they have movies I've never heard of, and I think I'll use the podcast code to try the free trial if they're still offering it.
It's darkestnight and it gives you thirty days. Didn't think I'd ever be this excited about a podcast sponsor.
My final gift to you, my spookies, before I crawl into a hermit cave for the next however many months: HORROR IN SMALL DOSES: 31 SHORT FILMS TO GIVE YOU THE HEEBIE-JEEBIES
I've been trying to find a creepy story I read online ages ago, and I'm coming up with nothing. What I remember: it's told through facebook updates. A guy moves to a town where creepy stuff happens. His updates get weirder and weirder. There might be glitch text involved? I think he tries to leave but gets pulled back. I can't find it anywhere and it's really bugging me.
Nooo, but that one is fantastic and I had totally forgotten about it! I ended up trawling through my Tumblr and found the thing in question. The creepy place was Wisconsin! (Which, after Googling to be sure I was correct, I know to be a state not a town) Part One Part Two
I don't know why this is in the horror thread, seems like the guy had a normal Midwestern experience to me :P
Watching a brit Netflix found footage flick called The Unfolding tonight. Already off to a promising start - big empty house up on Dartmoor, one of the two main character is called Tam; already had a sighting of what I'd call Black Shuck and Tam mentioned as a Wisht Hound (which to my knowledge are usually white and red and part of the Wild Hunt :p) If they fob off the ending by dropping the nuclear bomb that was mentioned in the summary and on the radio I shall be disappoint, but we'll see how we go. Will report back shortly! :D EDIT: Urgh, so that was a flop. Just once, I'd like references to the Fair Ones in horror films not to be total red herrings or else 'I USED MY CREATIVITY SO IT DOESN'T MATTER' (lookin' at you, Hallow.) After a promising start it turned into the exact same 'ooh 2spoopy4u' Most Haunted bullshit with a finale that combined 'EVIL RAPIST'S GHOST' with 'BOMBS DROP EVERYONE DIED'. Points for originality on the last, I guess, but wehhhh I wanted Black Shuck and evil Wild Hunt why do you lead me on like this D:
I'm sorry that one didn't work out. Are there any good horror movies on Netflix right now, or are they all like that?
I liked it when I tried it a while back. Lots of B movies, but if you look around you can find some really good films.
